In the UK it is known as Abatacept but in Canada it is known as Orencia.
I am hoping the Orencia/
Abatacept
will give me the pain relief I need so I can start to enjoy life again. If anyone has been on this medication I would appreciate your feedback either way. I know everyone reacts differently but I am interested to know if it helped others with RD.

On biological infusions to help my arthritis caused by my Lupus and white blood cells keep dropping..
Hi all, im on
Abatacept
4weekly infusions at hospital to help as my lupus has attacked my joints aparently there is only a choice of a couple of the biological infusions as most of them can actually make luus worse.

More questions than answers......!
Have now been on SECOND biologic,
Abatacept
, for 9 weeks. That's 9 weekly injections, and there doesn't seem to be much improvement in pain level, or fatigue level. To be fair, not too many side effects either, except I feel increasingly grotty on day of injection, plus next 2/3.

Absolutely fed UP !
Five weeks now on
Abatacept
injections and the only change is that the side effects have kicked in....the pain in feet is worse if anything. All I've done this morning is go to the shops on scooter, then tackled a heap of forms that needed filling in.

Decision looming
Is
Abatacept
still prescribed? Rheumy did seem to prefer Tocil over
Abatacept
but I can't remember why. Am dreading all the side effects already! Does anyone know if you now get Tocil in a pen-injection thing, like Humira?

Restarting drugs after a break
My liver function had become deranged (his word not mine) and I must stop all RA drugs (methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine, and folic acid) and they had cancelled my
Abatacept
infusion the following week. I had to have blood tests every few days and quite quickly my results were back to normal.

New Year new plan
He also told me he is looking at
abatacept
? not sure if he will wait until I need it or put me on it anyway. He also told me that I have hyperparathyroidism that will probably require an op to remove.

Abatacept Update
Hi All Have decided to bite the bullet and start on weekly
abatacept
as soon as healthcare at home can deliver and show me how to inject - a couple of weeks from now I have been told! Any tips on how and when I should inject please? Any immediate side effects or over the first 24 to 48 hours?

Cold sores and Orencia
Hi, can I ask if anyone has suffered with cold sores when taking Orencia (
Abatacept
)? I got 5 after taking my 2nd weekly injection, 2 up my nose (ouch) and 3 around my mouth. I've not taken Orencia for 3 weeks now, waiting for sores to clear up.

Confused
I have been offered
abatacept
which I am most certainly going to have to start shortly despite my reluctance to do so. My question is this: We take these drugs to manage our RA but then have to take other drugs to counter the side effects which in turn lead to others severe illnesses.
