Coming up next Sunday: Who’s up for trying out a mindful and fun movement/dance practice?

I’ve got something special prepared, something I have been trying out with my hubby, who’s always up for anything new. But he can also be super critical! He liked it, so I think it’s a go!

The pointer to this practice actually came from a post here on another health-related forum on Health Unlocked. Something new to me and something new to try out! And I’m excited to share and see what we all think of it.

It is scalable to any ability and fitness levels. And it is simply a lot of fun!

So without further ado, here an embedded video as a teaser! Needless to say, the video is promoting this movement practice by a specific practitioner, whereas we will also learn about the founder of this practice.

And let’s see if any of our virtual workout buddies already know this practice! If yes, let us know.

What we’ll be doing over the duration of the three weeks is this:

★ Week 1 - Introduction and first follow-alongs, using 3 short practice videos to get us moving.

★ Week 2 - More info on the practice and connections to our natural landscapes. Three follow-along videos of medium length.

★ Week 3 - The original music and the original long practice to follow along to. The founder’s voice will guide us through this practice.

As part of the challenge, we will be doing a short practice at least 3 times per week. I will be posting different follow- along videos or sound tracks to keep up our motivation and which will be exploring different accompanying music tracks.

What you will be needing:

★ a space large enough to be able to swing your hands and dance on the spot

★ ideally a screen of TV size and access to YouTube. Audio speakers, if available. One can use a smartphone or tablet, but the experience might not be as good.

★ curiosity and courage to learn a new embodied practice

So is everyone up for it? Then get ready! We’re starting next Sunday.

Er . . . ? And your hubby is up for this?! That video is as if I had awoken into a nightmare! I LOVE music. I do NOT love dancing. This will be done home alone, but the idea of doing that in a room of people, is AAAAAAAGH! 😱

But, you know what, I trust this community and I will take a look next Sunday. No promises, but I'll take a look.

And good on you for looking beyond the "simple" exercise solution to broaden our horizons.

LOL! I do actually love a home practice (Yoga, Pilates or S&F) , as I love the privacy, flexibility and no peer pressure pushing me over various edges. So I think I can relate…?

Have a look then and see if it is to your liking. And just learning about this modern movement practice might just be of interest by itself.

I have to admit, I was smitten. 😊

👍🏽👏

I am totally in! I've done 5Rhythm before and very much enjoyed it. It was just rather expensive in San Francisco (what isn't?!?), so I ended up not doing it as much as I would've enjoyed.

Thank you for offering this, CBDB , I look forward to it! (And am glad, it'll be cooling off mid-week... not sure if I could do it with 27°C inside my apartment...)

Yeah, I was waiting for when a bit of cooler time was expected. I think I couldn’t have coped with chaos (oops: spoiler 🤣) in 27-29 degrees!

I bet my versions will be much gentler than what you might have experienced in Frisco!
