I’m just scuttling in by night, laying out our collective (and virtual) yoga (and Pilates) mat, ready for the next week.
And thank you all for all the chatter about props, or tumbling tree poses or trembling planks. It keeps me coming to this forum, which means I have to keep coming to the mat!
And great that we also have a daily Pilates Yogi joining in as well. I love hearing about reformers and magic circles! Keep those magic circles coming!
For me, the daily practice has, by now, become a solid habit again. Hope it has benefitted others similarly.
I really enjoyed today's practice. I'm happy that I can feel that going in and out and even holding plank is getting so much easier. And today my balance was great. Tree pose ... no problems 😊Good to start with the breath work as well.
I was wondering why it suddenly was so much better. It all seemed to click in place. Both tree poses were surprisingly stable. I had the foot underneath knee, though, but better than at ankle level as usual. And yes, moving from plank to down dog seemed easier. I channelled my inner Adriene, seeing her repeatedly in the beginning credits, doing that particular move and it looks always so elegant. But it probably unconsciously also tells you exactly how to move your body to do that move.
Amazingly I have completed day 15 today and attempted them all... I love how her voice relaxes you and after the session you feel so mellow... Thank you for telling us about the 30 day centre challenge
Thank you for sharing it.... I'm really enjoying it too and find the commitment to doing it every day easier than I thought ! At 1st I struggled with her pace and felt bit dizzy and nauseous by the constant up-down-plank-downward dog-up again .. which was so different from the pace of my usual yoga teacher but am pleased to say that's passed now & can almost😉 keep up!!! Probably it was a post Xmas detox going on!!
Yeah. There is always a bit of Xmas detox at this time if the year! But great that you are finding it enjoyable! One of those January journeys got me really hooked to yoga with my longest daily streak being around 1 1/2 years.
But nowadays I’m slightly less obsessive with not breaking the streak. 🤣🤣
Day 15 of my Pilates challenge. I guess I lost my rhythm because I forgot to post yesterday that I completed the second pre-Pilates video by RAD Pilates. It was a bit faster paced than the first one, which I enjoyed.
Day 16 of my Pilates challenge (to do Pilates every day in January): I went to Open Gym today. Managed to do the Beginner Reformer sequence in about 20 minutes and then did a bunch of exercises from my Private on Friday using the Neck Stretcher and Cadillac (I find the names of a lot of these contraptions rather funny... ). Now I'll wind down by doing some journaling and then see if I can come up with some Pilates & yoga exercises to move me into bed... (I have one for getting out of bed, so I figured it's about time I make one for getting back in 🙃)
Caught up with the days now... not sure about today. Day16 KIND... some bits didn't feel very kind... with a fair few downward dogs, which I have to use other moves for.. I nearly toppled on the mat with an upward reach...but... I enjoyed it. Cutting my toe nails too helped... don't ask!

DAY 16 KIND - I did actually like this one very much. Doing the reverse warrior pose with knees on the floor feels great (as long as knees are happy). Also the forward fold windmill rolls. Big thumbs up from me!
All I can remember is i made it to the end and did the best I could still find it hard to do the cobra from the floor... That doesn't mean I did the rest like Adrienne... I did the easier poses... So you will see me doing day 17 tomorrow
I’m finding my knees are more forgiving this year…
I liked the side stretches and modified Warrior 2 flows. Fudging the cobras and planks 😂

Yes, mine too. My favourite mat is now a thinner one from the one I started out with. It slides less, and the firmness now feels better. I still have a blanket for padding knees, though.
Day 18 of my Pilates challenge consisted of the routine I do some mornings. It's a combination of pre-Pilates and beginner Mat. Although winter is back, it warmed me up and helped to wake up my spine and rest of the body...
Also... this challenge got me out of bed this morning to do this! I might've skipped it and stayed in the warm, comfy bed longer if I didn't know that this was my chance to do Pilates today...
Day 17 MOVE.... I did it and it was a really enjoyable one... and I am getting much more strength in my arms too! It seemed to go very quickly too. I do feel too that I am very much more connected with my body now and able to visualise much better...
Thanks youx

Day 17 Move yeah. I think this might be my favourite of the Jan Journeys I’ve done so far. (But I’ve done only three). But it feels like it’s a bit different with more focus on your inner body’s connections.
Day 18 .. MoveI really enjoyed this one despite leaving it until early evening. Some different moves and a nice easy pace to follow. I felt like I almost fell at the end in the high lunge when my mat slipped 😯
Have to agree with everyone day 17 was really good and am loving it i can definitely feel more muscle tone... Sorry repeating again but thank you for giving us the link to register for daily emails that has helped me get straight to the exercise and then come here to hear what everyone thoughtThanks guys have a lovely evening
Day 19 of my Pilates challenge. I skipped class tonight... I just couldn't motivate myself to walk to the studio for a Mat class taught by a teacher I am not super excited about (substituting for the regular teacher who I like). So! To meet my challenge, I did the 34 Mat exercises at home. Sure, my mat isn't nearly as nice as the thick Pilates mats but I could move at my own pace (which is a bit faster than in class) and do all the exercises... And music! I put my music library on random - and moved...
(Yea, I feel a bit guilty for skipping class, though I am realizing now that this is because I tend to overvalue other people's feelings than my own needs! Totally backwards, so I am going to see tonight as a win 🥳)
I love home practices! I have gone to public classes in the past, even had a gym membership at one point in the past. But at this stage in my life, a home practice is perfect for me. We even turned a corner of our open plan living room into a workout space.
Day behind... but I did GAZE... absolutely loved it and loved that all my squats and sumo squats, ( heel raised) have paid off... those squats she did... I balanced beautifully and I got down too ! Not boasting at all, but blooming chuffed !!!!
I am looking forward to playing tomorrow ! Happy Yoga people
You’re not as behind as me! Did GAZE on the 26th…about a week behind 😂
At one stage I was so focused on getting my “gaze” right, it wasn’t until she mentioned the actual pose that I realised I had been squatting elegantly into Goddess Pose 😱…unthinkable last year! 🥳🙌🏼
Day 20 of my Pilates challenge brought me back on my mat with some pre-Pilates moves and then the first mat exercises. I didn't do the whole 34 because I had enough after Open Leg Rocker, which I am proud to say, is coming along! 🥳
Today's "restore" session was just l o v e l y so relaxing. I did it early but it would be a good one to do before bed. Lying twists really showed up my dodgy shoulder and inflexible hips 😂😂
Just done restore and really liked it. I missed yesterday's session and it made me realise how important it is for me to turn up every day, even if I can't do it all. I did run yesterday so sort of felt I'd done my bit but then I ended the day feeling slightly out of sorts. So a renewed determination to make it to the mat!
YWA: RESTORE: I did a double session Saturday…and saved this for the 2nd practice. So happy I did! What a lovely slow and stretchy practice…and all on the ground. Added to my YWA Fav list 😊
Did make me realise that my right hip is not as flexible as I thought it was…had been doing some extra stretches for my sciatic left hip, which I realise now was a reclined pigeon…so now I’d better stretch the right as well! 🙄🤦🏻♀️

and I noticed my typo! Had this down as day 30 🤣🤣🤣
Day 21 of my Pilates challenge will end with how I've started some days: A pre-Pilates & beginner Mat routine... It's also a candidate for my bedtime wind-down routine, so we'll see how that goes!
"Strength" .... I was going to leave this and catch up tomorrow but decided to give it a go. I was feeling really tired, so the title didn't sound great for me. But I did it, although didn't hold the side planks as long as she did.
Luckily did this first in a planned double header with #20 RESTORE. Don’t get me wrong…it was fine, but just no with all the planks.
It took me much longer than the time on the video…had to keep pausing to rearrange props for the different positions. Nothing fancy, just different cushions/pillows! One for kneeling, one for my head when on back (or I hurt my neck), and rolled towels and a firm pillow for the “easy” seated position 😂😂😂

oh, I think that was the day where I didn’t manage to get to the mat! Just as well, by the sounds of it! Well done!
