The importance of stretching

Well, 3 years running and the penny has dropped. I run a bit and I stretch a bit….. but…… my calves are a bit tight a lot of the time, so this morning while waiting for the bath to fill I put my hands against the wall put one foot behind the other, bent the front knee and stretched the back leg, ouch I could feel that, held for 30 seconds and changed sides, bath dry dress and ready for work and…… my calves feel amazing 😻 really amazing….. wonder why it took me so long.

Have a wonderful pain free Friday 😀

Hello , there and welcome to Stretch&Flex 👋👋👋! 😃 So great to welcome you here and so many thanks for posting! I’ve been there, suddenly discovering the magic of simply taking a specific stretch!

Be gentle with your stretches, though, when you are not yet warmed up.

But it sounds delicious!

If you need any pointers to great stretching routines, let us know. 👍🏽💛

Thanks CBDB ive been here before and read a lot of the posts but haven’t posted for ages

Oh and I had already done squats, heel raises and a bit of leg swinging so they weren’t quite static stretches from cold

I always stretch after a run and sometimes after a very long walk (even if I don't always feel like it). I love how great my legs feel afterwards 😃

Yes, I halfheartedly stretch I didn’t realise how good my legs would feel after

My glutes have suddenly got very tight, and I think I know why! I always stretch after a run following the recommended stretches in C25k. However, I often skip the final ones where you have to lie on your back, knees to chest and then stretch glutes. Reminder to self, must do them every time :)

I always spend time doing quite a lot of stretches both before and after my runs and swear it makes a big difference 😄
