Who doesn’t like a great plan?

I recently responded to a quest post over from Oldfloss at the Bridge forum ( healthunlocked.com/bridgeto... ) and looking at awe at all those following DylanTheRabbit and ju-ju- s plankathon plan at the moment ( healthunlocked.com/strength... ) made me realise that I’m coasting at the moment, fitness-wise speaking.

Having graduated to 10k running level and finished associated Strength and Flex programs, I now do my three runs per week, my daily yoga with additional Strength and Flex workouts here and there, choosing by the day of how I feel.

This is great on one hand; running and daily workouts, however short or long they are, have become a daily habit, one which I desire not to go without.

On the other hand, I think I’m cruising a bit.

Having had my hand in designing my own personalised plans, I know the delight of devising one’s own workout program, planning new explorations into different workout experiences, wether it’s different instructors, different sport forms, different intensities, different running routes, different apps or different targeted muscle groups.

I have come to the conclusion that I have to set myself the challenge to get planning again. Planning in my planning, so to speak! And for that I’m in search of some inspiration.

So what is your favourite plan? Do you like trying existing ones? And which? Or do you try your hand at devising your own? What are the important aspects that you like in a plan? Does it have to be precise or more flexible? Are dates on your plan or just generic timescales? Do you have spaces to put that ever-so-satisfying tick? And where do you place your plan, the fridge, the bedroom, the bathroom?

Let us hear about your plans for planning!

I like other peoples plans…and adapt as needed! 😉

😃 do you find they fit you or do you have to adapt?

TBH, I haven followed a running plan since JuJu’s got me to 10k. I diligently followed the times and/or distances…just added in extra rest days.

It’s the same really for YWA…it’s how I feel when I get to the evening.

I think it’s having a structure to work to…that’s the main thing, and one of the reasons I started C25k in the first place when I retired.

Yeah, I think you’re right on that. I need a certain amount of flexibility but also structure.

I prefer a routine to a plan - but a plan is very helpful to get the routine going. I like to be regular but not too rigid. So I will adapt a plan. I also really enjoy turning up to a class where someone has obviously made a very good plan, but I don't have to think about it, just do as I'm told.

My planning can too often lead to procrastination, it's nice to have that taken out of the equation.

Not what you're looking for?
