Come and join us! Adriene is a wonderful yoga instructor and her YouTube classes are accessible to all, whether youโre a rank beginner like I was when I first started practising with her nearly 3 years ago, or whether youโre already a seasoned yogi. She has something for everyone, and pretty much every part of the body - including several practices aimed at runners.
She has a tradition of releasing a new โ30 Days of Yogaโ in the New Year, and hereโs the link to the latest one if anyoneโs interested.
Itโs fun, and you really get to see results in your strength and flexibility. The things I can do/reach that I couldnโt before are incredible! ๐ Have a go, itโs a great cross training habit to get into! ๐ฅฐ
Already onboard the YWA train but always good to have more company. I came here to let people know that signup for Breath was ready, but you got there before me!
I have been doing the YWA 30 day challenge for the last 2 years & her Sunday practice on and off in between, but havenโt kept up with her. Iโve been doing other yoga as well. Happy to jump on board for the Jan 30 day challenge ๐๐ผ
I'm in though it's a long time since I did much yoga. I suspect it might take me most of the year to get through the 30 days but there's no harm trying.
Brilliant! Iโm trying to persuade mine too. He does YWA, but heโd rather pick his own practices. Iโm sure heโd love it so Iโll keep trying! ๐
I'm in Cheeky! Already on the mat with Adriene every day as you know, I was wanting to do the new 30 days in January so this heads up is great..Namaste ๐๐งโโ๏ธxxx
I know you are a great advocate of Adrienne cheeky and Iโve just seen that sheโs being promoted as one of the most important women in 2020 in this months Good Housekeeping magazine. I might give her a try in January as i wonโt be doing my Pilates classes. Watch this space.
Ooh thank you for sharing this - I'm in! Very timely for me as I've not been doing my zoom yoga class for a while - just carrying on with my own stretching routine but need some inspiration and motivation. Thanks for sharing! ๐
I'm in - I have dabbled with some of her classes in between my regular class - be good to have a focus and be accountable in Jan - thanks for giving me a nudge to commit
Thank you. I love her yoga classes. I have really tight hips, which are not helped by arthritis inherited through my mum. I used to do ballet and gymnastics when I was young and then taught fitness classes for over 15 years, but I lost all the flexibility and since I started running, only back in May, I'm working hard to get it back. Thank you for these links as they will be so useful.๐โโ๏ธ๐
Fabulous Hedgehogs, Iโm so glad youโre joining in too! Youโll find that regular yoga will hugely help your hips. The more you do, the more flexible you become. ๐ Itโs great seeing the progress. ๐๐ป๐งโโ๏ธ
Hmm, you guys are all so heartily enthusiastic about it I might be tempted to give it a go. I have never tried any yoga but, having read so much about Adriene on B210, I took a peek at one of her YouTube videos the other day and was put off immediately.... as she was comfortably sitting cross legged on the floor, which is something I've not been able to do for several years!! Is there any hope for me??๐ฑ
Yes there is Jiveblue! Itโs perfectly fine to sit up on a pillow, blanket or block to lift your hips, and it makes sitting cross legged way more comfortable until your body gradually gets used to it.
Give Adriene a go. She gives lots of alternative poses and youโre sure to see improvement in your flexibility over time. ๐
Oh yes...sheโs really kind and is always thinking about the novices and suggesting alternative positions. She always says just to do what you are comfortable with. โค๏ธ
I've followed her for some time but this year all workouts were off due to me having 3 slipped cervical discs in January that require surgery that I'm reluctant to have, but in the New Year I intend to lose weight and adapt a workout regime that suits me so will look at Yoga as my first port of call
Wonderful Looneytunes. Hopefully yoga can ease you back in gently. Youโll already know that Adriene advocates alternative poses if any arenโt appropriate. Have fun! ๐
YWA pops up so often on my Strava feed that I was planning on dipping my toe into the water as my New Year Resolution. Breath seems like an ideal place to start.
