This morning, it was the all round NHS home toning workout. nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/1...
This one seems much longer than the 10 min that it suggests and I find this one quite hard on the knees.
But I was able to use my new resistance bands and I was doing the workout in our newly arranged space in a (now free) corner of the living room.
This worked really well, and just like when these exercises - when done outside - allowed me to get in touch with nature again (grass, bugs, bark, fresh air), the inside exercises bring a different home-ly connectivity:
- the riddled feel of woodgrain on the floorboards
- the soft feel of the yoga mat
- the sturdiness of the Ikea chair
- the dimpled morning light trying to sneak in through doors, side windows and pressing itself through the gaps in the curtains of the front windows
As you can tell by my waffling, I am enjoying it. So our rearrangement to clear a part of the livingroom for the workouts was really worth it.
My teenage son has always used that space to do a bit of pretend fighting and Kung-Fu practice, and my husband also does his body workouts there. Before it was a bit cluttered and had additional seating. Although initially reluctant, both hubby and son now love it as a more ‘physical’ space of the livingroom. So We’re all set up for the winter.
