Yoga..tastic! 😃

After seeing a post on here about the 30 day January challenge from Yoga with Adriene, I decided to sign up.

Some days it was tricky to find time, but most videos were only 20 - 30 minutes long so I was determined to try! At the beginning some of the moves were really hard (and some I still haven't mastered), but I stuck at it and modified moves when needed. I kept up with the daily videos and completed the month on Friday.✨😎

My main motivation for doing it was that I had been suffering from various niggles in my right leg and knee - nothing structural, just muscle/tendon strains/tightness/inflammation on and off - and this was impacting on my running, which was really frustrating as I had completed C25k twice (the first time I then damaged my left meniscus in a fall) but never got to 5k!!

Well - the yoga has clearly worked - it has strengthened not just my legs, but is working my arms and core too - and I went out for a gentle wk 3 run today with no niggles, no aches, all good! 🏃‍♀️

I'm going to keep up with the yoga, dipping into the monthly calendar most days - not sure whether I will be able to always do it on the days that I run, but will try and do it every day I don't run.(maybe using her short yoga for runners videos on running days)

So if you are looking for all round strength and flex - try yoga! 🧘‍♀️

Adriene seems to do a 30 day challenge every January, but she also has a monthly calendar for the rest of the year yogawithadriene.com/calendar/

That's brilliant! I have found it's made a big difference to my core and upper body strength too. I also use her visualisation of energy running up the front and grounding down the back when I run - it noticeably improves my posture when I'm getting tired in the latter part of a run.

So glad you enjoyed it too, it has made such a big difference to me from where I was before Christmas. Definitely going to keep it up regularly, although like you maybe won’t fit it in every day!

Well done Cookie, thats amazing you are feeling stronger. I have reconneced with Yoga after many years and I am trying to do a session every day. I've noticed improvements to my running performance. I call it my secret weapon now :)
