As part of my Shake It Up Challenge set by the wonderful Realfoodieclub ( healthunlocked.com/strength... ) I want to do another yoga challenge from Yoga with Adriene.
I've done one whole one before and have gotten about halfway through a few others before life got in the way but would love to get into another routine that I can hopefully stick to a little more long term now. Here's the channel if anyone's interested ( youtube.com/user/yogawithad... )
I do really enjoy them because it's a nice slow way of getting yourself stronger and more flexible, regardless of what level you're starting out at, and a great way of counteracting being sat down at your desk all day!
Anyway - was wondering if anyone has any tips for making yourself do something every day? I don't quite know what the difference was between the one i completely completed and the many challenges that I left half-complete...

I like that site, I am particularly interested in The one for yoga for seniors. I am so inflexible I need a really an easy start position and that one starts with sitting on the sofa.
I am a tick box girl. I use apps or spread sheets that I have to tick off daily or weekly chores. I find that my brain is unhappy if I haven’t ticked off a scheduled activity. Hehe, I hate housework and this is how I motivate myself. I have even added my six week Shake it up into my housework planner as scheduled work. The app was expensive for apps £6.99 but it really works for me. I give myself 3 or 4 days to perform the exercise and as time progresses it turns darker and darker and tells you you are overdue for that activity. My brain responds to that and I go and get my nice green bar again when it is done.
I'm also a tick-box girl! Currently reading a book called "The Checklist Manifesto" and it is reallllly speaking to me. Trouble is, there are quite a few things that have been on my to-do list for a few weeks now... maybe its time to revamp my checklist style - will check out that app.
I like this new one because it resets itself when you do the activity so it is not Calender based, it has taken me a little while to set it up with what works for me but I do have a tidy house now so it must be doing something 😂😂😂.
I have to write things down. I have a run diary that I record runs, exercises and calories (when I am on a strict diet!). I don't use it all the time though. I think for this Shake up challenge I might just tick off the days on the wall calendar. Unfortunately I have failed at the first hurdle and didn't manage today's wall push ups!!! (don't tell Rfc 😉). Ps the yoga link is great, thanks
ahhh i also failed to remember to get on with this when I got home yesterday! was busy getting ready for some guests that are coming to stay .- but i won't tell if you don't!
Hi Vesa, I find the activity apps the best for helping to motivate me to keep active. I use Endomondo but Strava looks good too, as with both you can record your running, strength, yoga, cycling, swimming, walking etc sessions.
I've also just started yoga - using the "ultimate yogi" dvd set. Very impressed so far! I really need it - am stiff as a board, but already feeling improvement! It's a 108 day plan though I can't always fit it in so sometimes I have to push a session into the next day. Trying to work out how to keep this going on campsites next week as I'll be away in my campervan which definitely isn't big enough for yoga!
Actually, the bed in my campervan is extremely comfortable! Proper duvet and pillows too, but I'm super creaky, so enjoying trying to stretch out my old joints! x
