Hi sandraj yep I tick those boxes andso can not tolerate any of the blood pressure drugs very well. I am currently coming up to the end of a 6month Bosentan treatment regime which has improved the Raynauds symptoms tho not symptomless yet !! What are you taking ? :) x

Hi What is Bosntan treatment? I have low blood pressure and also for no reason my blood pressure drops to nothing and my heart stops - thankfully it restarts again! So they wont treat my Raynauds with anything ........ we now live in the South of Spain!

Hi Bosentan is a strong vasodilator, it is used as a last resort as it is quite expensive and so I have to go cold turkey at the end of a 6month course whilst waiting on a funding application for another 6 month course ! It has definitely helped my symptoms as I am currently ulcer free tho my hands are still painful especially where the ulcers have been ! Bosentan or the sun ??? mmmm bit of a no brainer question lol buenos dias guapa :) x

My BP has been measured as low as 60/40. Hubby thinks medical dramas are hysterical when they panic because the pt on the table has BP at 70/50 and I will be doing the shopping! Don't know if this is due to the Raynauds or the myriad of other things that go with Lupus

I have LOW BP but take just ONE Valsartan per day....not that its helping in this terrible Bristish (West Country esp) summer. I do feel silly dressed up in coat scarf & gloves when other people are walking around in T's and shorts!!!

I'm not sure if the BP is down to Raynaud's or ME/CFS and all its various other symptoms!!! Sorry to have been of no help......but if the NHS could fund accomodation in Southern Spain Sandraj I would be first in the queue for that treatment. (Hope someone can give you a definative answer) B

Hi Sandraj

I too have raynauds and low BP and I take 1 20mg tablet of nifedipine a day. I also have Iloprost once a year but dont have the nifedipine during the time I have the iloprost treatment.

I have to agree with B too about getting the NHS to fund living in warmer climates - I just get laughed at!!!!

I have limited cutaneous scleroderma and Raynaud's and my blood pressure is usually at the lower end of the "normal" range. I'm not on meds for Raynaud's or scleroderma but do take 150mcg levothyroxine a day for my underactive thyroid.

My low blood pressure is made worse by the fact I have (in addition to 2nd Raynauds) Vasovagal Syncope so they wont give me any meds for Raynauds as they make me pass out. Apparently my cardiology probs take priority over my Raynauds ones.

Yes it would have been nice to get a move to Spain on the NHS - but you may be surprised that it was my NHS consultant who pushed for us to move abroad - it took her a year to convince us to go! .....and it has made life better :)

Interesting - my BP is also low - the official definition for low BP by the way is below 90 for the systolic (higher) and below 60 for the diastolic (power).

I have had low blood pressure most of my life and poor circulation. It used to drop so low I would pass out. Thankfully it hasn't happened in a long time. I have had Raynauds for about 5 years. I am not taking anything for my blood pressure or Raynauds. I didn't realize there may have been a connection, I know low blood pressure is also common with APS.

sandraj profile image
sandraj in reply toSassyOne

They have told me there is no connection between the two conditions but because at times my blood pressure drops suddenly and my heart stops I cannot be treated for Raynauds as it considered the lessor condition and any treatment for Raynauds (as far as I know) lowers blood presure.

Just wondering. Maybe I have missed something you have said on ere. But please put me straight if I have. Why can't you take anythin for raynauds. Did U say heart problems

Hi, I have Raynauds, low blood pressure and suspected Behcets disease. I am unable to take anything for the Raynauds due to the blood pressure and have been put on Fludrocortisone for my BP within the last year. I get lots of dizzy spells, have passed out and due to this they won't treat the Reynauds so i have to just suffer with it. Due to all of this i have recently lost my job as i have been struggling with all 3 problems and picking up various infections/viruses due to the medications and my immune system.

It is not good is it! We moved to Southern Spain to help alleviate the Raynauds and that does help. I now work from home (we rent out holiday properties:) ) so if I am having a "dizzy day" .... holiday enquiries just wait a little longer to be answered.

I have just been diagnosed with Raynaud's. Had never heard of it before. Been medicated but my blood pressure lowers so much as my bp is already low. All low BP medications are out of stock in pharmacies and have no idea how to move forward and continue with energy as Im a personal trainer

Although I have had Raynauds for over 20 years, I also have Vasovagal Syncope so my cardiologyst says that I cannot take any medication for Raynauds as they all lower my blood pressure and hence make my VS worse. So I cant take any meds now for the Raynauds - I now live in Southern Spain, in a centrally heated house!!!!!!!! own loads of gloves and thermal sock and just take those sort of measures to avoid attacks. Of course having a good consultant is also very important :)

What is VS please. Obviously heart related with U seing a cardiologist. Just I suffer from congestive heart failure. Which nifedipene can cause this yet my cardiologist has put me on the nifedipene. Changed to adalat but B.P went low and constant head aches and dizzyness. Felt like bad hang overs and being so drunk the room was spinning. If only . Ha

I've had Raynauds for almost over 20 yrs too. I'm on Adalat. Also have low pressure too. I have a great Constultant Rheumatologist too. It makes all the difference. I keep oven gloves beside the freezer - can't bare to open it without them. (:-)

sandraj profile image
sandraj in reply toMaggs3petts

I am not allowed to take Adalat / Nefedepine because they lower my blood pressure and if that happens I can become unconscious. Yes I have gloves everywhere too !!!
