Food malabsorprion
Hi Tmontana, are you struggling with your weight? I’ve never been officially diagnosed with malabsorption but I think many people with SSc have trouble maintaining weight at times. I have in the past had to have nutritional drinks to keep my weight normal but did have a lack of appetite at the time. It’s fine now, hope you get some answers soon.
yes it is if you have issues with your GI tract
for me going to the bathroom results to one thing one time and the other the next. Stress weather and of course what I eat.
Please ask your gastro doctor about cholestyramine. It is a dietary suspension powder that gets dissolved in a small amount of water before meals. It allows your body to absorb your food as well as helps with the consistency of output. When I hadn’t my ostomy bag and to this day, I will at times see full pills in my output. The body doesn’t absorb after the gut has been affected by scleroderma. I have had a total colectomy from complications with ulcerative colitis and have been on the suspension for four years seems to help but I still deal with the ups and downs of malnutrition having to take Imodium daily.
