Running Gloves/Mittens

I live in the middle of Scotland and run every morning. Winter mornings frequently mean minus temperatures so I'm looking for recommendations for heated gloves/mittens. There are quite a few available but battery weight and portability are important. Look foward to hearing any recommendations or signposting. Thank you.

Hi there, I live in the Outer Hebrides and run every morning too. I use sealskinz, they're down filled so really light but are designed for hill walking not runing so are big but they're better than any heated gloves I've tried. My Feet on the other hand I always struggle with and get really bad chilblains.

Thank you. Craftyflower. I'm in Auchterarder. I've just checked the Sealskinz site, which looks interesting. Feet are cold, but, fortunately, can live with this. It's always difficult running at this time of the year through black ice and cold. But I might buy some of these. Thank you again and good running.

Good morning. I posted similar question a week or 2 back. If you scroll down or search you can see my replies. There were about 8 or more

Also I should have said any of the gloves are either lithium which are very expensive to buy and have a limited useage life or very large battrey. One pair of gloves I was looking at the battery lasts only 2 hours (size D) and only covers the palms not fingers and you have to turn them on a while before using. The electric corded gloves with the USB lead are quite good but you would have to buy a mobile charging battery pack to go with it but definitely the better option. I bought a pair and they are quite successful, the lead is quite long.

Thanks for this. I'm glad that you're still running. This time of year is always difficult through cold, snow and ice. I'm currently using a pair of French ski mittens, which though better than gloves, still don't really keep hands warm. Like you, I am doubtful about batteries and am still thinking of a pair of Sealskinz. But they are expensive to buy and Sealskinz don't sound keen on refunds if they don't work. So if you know of any shops or stores where I could view some or similar without buying, I'd be very interested. Look forward to hearing from anyone with similar expeiences.

I don't run, but have you considered USB hand warmers? They are about the same size as the battery packs in heated gloves but work better and last longer. I use flip-top mittens and put my Warmastone in the flip-top bit, then curl my fingers around it. It only cost me a tenner, so not nearly as pricey as good gloves!!

Thank you very much. This sounds a good idea. But how long to they last when heated up?

Depends on which setting you use, but they seem to last an hour or 2 easily. To a non-runner, that seems enough for a run!

Thank you. That might work, so I'll probably try one/some. Certainly much cheaper than very expensive gloves. Sorry to keep asking basic questions, but are they very heavy?

No, they're really light and also a nice shape. I found the battery packs in my heated gloves really uncomfortable and heavy but the Warmastone suits me much better.

Thank you again and for your comments. I think I'm going to try one/some. With best wishes for Christmas.

I would recommend Thermo gloves from Austria, intended for skiing - uk.thermogloves.eu/ - expensive but definitely worth it
