Can't seem to shift my cold, which I've had for weeks.I'm on a lot of medication including methotrexate...

It's not a horrid cold. Just feel exhausted and fed up of constantly blowing my nose. Also don't feel as if people will want to be with me 🤧

Any ideas folks or even just sympathy!!

Hi speak to your rheumatologist about it you may need to come off your Methotrexate for a bit. I went through something similar a few years ago, and one year I had 5 chest infections and just couldn’t get better enough before the other one struck so my Specialist took me off of the drug and I eventually got better. But you need to speak to them. I hope this helps in some way. Take care.

Thanks Joan,I might talk to the rheumatology nurse. I had the same expert last winter. I seemed to permanently have a cold

Hi Joan59, speak to your consultant first as we are all different. If I pick up a cold I always stop my methotrexate generally for a couple of weeks - if I don't the cold just settles in for the winter, I suppose it also depends on how high a dose rate you are taking. I also take vit C & D supplements. Hope this helps

I’m interested to know what happens when methotrexate therapy is withdrawn temporarily. Does scleroderma take a break too or there is no perceived difference or does it return with a vengeance?

I came off methotrexate for two weeks following my covid vaccination and I was fine

Still not on any treatment as Scleroderma remains unconfirmed although I have all the symptoms.

However, I too have had a head cold for over 3 weeks eventually requiring amoxicillin. Much less nasal discharge although still coughing occasionally. Most friends and family report similar conditions currently being termed “nursery cold” as all the grandchildren seem to be the most common source.

Yes much as I love my little grandson, I must admit he is generous with his germs

Assuming treatment is meant to be helpful can anyone profess to recovery or degrees of recovery?

My consultant just says we are keeping it at bay when I ask how I know it's working

I’m yet to start treatment but I was hoping that there may have been an element of reversal of condition. Dream on I guess.
