hi everyone,

I recently have been diagnosed with morphoea, it has formed in a lesion I’ve had a while which is lichen sclerosis so it is in the same lesion and I believe this is pretty rare. I have vitilgo too and all auto immune related. Last October my dermatologist ran some auto immune screening, and I have looked into them more since I got my results for my biopsy this week. Because when I received the result last year they just said was negative and didn’t really understand about it all.

My Scl-70 antibody is 0.4 so is within the normal range (0.0-0.9), but it stands out because all my other ranges are <0.2. Should I have this rechecked, can the antibodies rise? i aren’t sure how auto immune antibodies work, does everyone have a certain amount in their system? I’ll add a picture of my results for anyone who can help.

I don’t have any other symptoms besides the morphoea. My dermatologist said this week there was no need to anymore bloods?

I’m petrified but trying not to google too much. I feel particularly worried about diffuse scleroderma with my Scl-70 higher then the rest of my results. I do suffer from health anxiety and it just feels too much at the moment.

I just want to say thank you too I wrote a post the other and received some lovely replies.

Hi there, please don't worry. For a positive result you would need the result to be at least 160 and above. Most strongly positive results are upwards of the 500 marker. Also blood results are also only part of the picture. You can have a positive result and not have the condition. It is a very complex topic! The most important indicator would be if you had actual symptoms of scleroderma. Can things change over time, yes, of course, but these blood results really are not a cause of concern.

Hope that helps

Thank you so much Lucy, it has certainly helped. I guess my mind went into overdrive thinking that because my antibodies in the Scl-70 where slightly higher then the rest then my body is already starting to produce more of them. The mind can imagine all sorts of awful things.

Your message has really helped! Thank you x

Lucy thank you for kind message back.

Sorry I haven’t replied all this time. But your message helped me massively.

I am feeling a lot more calm and at ease now.

When you say 160 and above do you mean 1.60? Just because it says normal range is 0.0-0.9. Is this what you mean ?

Thank you so much x

Hi there, no, the titre ratio would be 1:160. When it is strongly positive it is in the hundreds, not just single or double figures, way above the 'normal' range. The best person to discuss your results with is a Rheumatology Consultant because they can see you and your symptoms. ANA results have to be interpreted alongside symptoms.

Please don't concern yourself
