Could this be Covid ? Scary symptoms resemble autoimmune conditions in long Covid

My daughter developed this after Xmas - she had had Covid then too. Firstly seemed like raynauds but then extra complications appeared with swelling on knuckles and sore skin that got worse and blistered. Then worryingly she had a + Ana (but only just 1/180).

We have just seen a rheumatologist who told us he has seen a lot of this in past 6months and believed it to be Covid related in the main .Does anyone else have a view ?

I was very relieved as I anticipated some more sever autoimmune disease- but am still slightly concerned as nothing is certain

Any similar experiences please ?

My son in law had covid toe a year ago and I believe it is quite a common manifestation in younger people.

Did he have a raynauds type symptom with it?Or just the breakouts ?

Thank you

Long covid from what I gather is very much like autoimmune conditions, so it might be a wait and see thing. It’s worth keeping an eye on as it was severe flu that triggered my autoimmune conditions.

Thanks- that is exactly what I thought that Covid could be a trigger. The rheumatologist was quite reassuring that in his opinion she did not preset with lupus / scleroderma which was my concern when I searched online for similar photos !

I think that it’s worth having an Ana blood test every 3 months.

Can it change then ?Is it possible for it to go down as well as up

?

Yep, absolutely. Mine is at 1:3260, which is the highest reading that you can get. Sometimes you can get false positives too, and a very small healthy section of the population have a positive one and never get any symptoms.
