My energy (and mood) increased noticeably after I removed gluten and most grains from my diet. It isn’t fun or easy-but worth the effort for me.
I've already done that past5 years
Hi Deby -
I don't think tonics have much in the way of the high level people with this sort of issue need - doesn't touch the sides! I take a high dose B complex ( ie has 50-100mg of each b vit) in the morning with breakfast along with 1000mg of vit c timed release - plus Vit d3 2000iu on prescription at night with Vit K2 (as helps absorption). I also have Welleco Super Elixir every morning (not with tea either side of an hour as caffeine kills the vits) - it's expensive but I found it pre diagnosis(?!) and it really helped for a while when I was still trying to work ( social work so you can imagine how exhausting that was!).
Also do you drink a lot of water (sounds like you're very up on things so guessing you know) to keep constantly very hydrated - women need 2litres of water a day at least and as I'm always very thirsty and whole bod is dry anyway, apparently I drink about 4-5litres, following a 48hr urine output test I had to do. It really does help everything, including the skin and sleep. Re sleep - I need tons of it, always have... anything under 9hrs and I'm toast... as sleep is very broken and I wake up feeling as if haven't slept at all.
I take it you have regularly blood tests so you know nothing is off there ie the cause? I just think autoimmune stuff is exhausting for the bod as is trying to fight infection and inflammation.
Lupus UK is doing a webinar on diet and nutrition very soon - check it out maybe. If you can't watch it live then you can on catch up. The website has good on line leaflets to read on diet and fatigue etc which you may have read/know all about already.
Obviously pacing yourself is a big thing - that old "spoons" story... but if you're working and have family etc I'm guessing that's not under your control as much. Your work need to understand your diagnosis and what they have to offer you to help you stay employed... Lupus UK has great info on that too... really helped when I was going through hell trying to work.
Hope that helps and all the best to you.

Definitely high dose vitamin D. It takes a couple months to kick in but it's worth it.
Get your B12 Levels checked. I can't absorb B12 in pill form so have to have a 3 monthly injection to top my levels up. Worth checking in case you are the same.
Hello Debby, I agree what others posted about B vitamins, C and vitamin D. However, you need a blood test and doses of supplements would have to be very high. For example for folic acid (B9,5mg) and you don't need to take it forever as the level go and stays up. Nobody mentioned IRON? That's difficult to get the level up. I have been low on B vits and iron - it has changed my life to get that sorted. From sleeping every afternoon to having my life back. I recommend 200mg of Ferrous Sulphate once a day for three months. You can take two tablets, says the packaging. I still take it. My hairloss subsided too with my hair being stronger. I have to say, that the NHS borderlines for bloods are set so they don't diagnose people being low. Ask doctor to print your results (from the past) and have a look for yourself. You don't need to flash for being low, you might be low on something anyway. It is worth to pay privately for a chosen tests too as I have done.
Amazing info I'm way to slack ongoing to gp as I hate to bother them.
RX Vit D (Ergocal) 50,000 U once a week does it for me. Ask your doctor
Hi, I have reduced my fatigue levels dramatically by going onto a low carbohydrate diet. My fatigue was so bad I had to nap mid afternoon to enable myself to be dragged threw the evening. This resulted in me having to give up my job so 2 years ago I did lots of research and went low carb, I still have fatigue but rarely hit the wall where I need to nap anymore. I know the carbs fatigue my system as on the odd occasion I’ve cheated I feel like hell within minutes and feel ridiculously tired. Worth a try.
Oh I really appreciate your help, sadly I'm already gluten, wheat and dairy free and have been for at least past 5 years. Take really good veg, based smoothie for breakfast with protein powder, fruit, lunch usually veg/salad based with some form of protein, or home made soup/stew. Mid day soya yogurt, chia seeds etc, then wee coffee, evening meal similar to lunch more fruit, so as you can see my diet has good healthy variety love my fish. I have app with GP tomorrow thankfully.y blood pressure reads 160/90 or above so think I need few things well checked out. Wish I knew exactly which disease I was coping with instead of Raynaud's and mixed connective tissue
