Hi Margaret. My rheumatologist changed my methotrexate from oral to metoject pen a couple of years ago due to tummy problems which the tablets were causing.....I'm on 20mg weekly so dose was 8 tablets. Since starting the metoject my tummy has settled and I'm not experiencing the terrible nausea on dose day......and several days after. Personally I much prefer the metoject, my poor tummy has enough to cope with so this is one less trauma for it! We all suffer side effects from methotrexate one way or another but all I'd say is drink plenty of water dose day and day after, get as much rest as possible and try not to worry too much. We're all in this together and there's always someone on here to listen and offer advise. Very best wishes Margaret, let us know how it goes x x

Hi thank you DebiH I have trouble with swallowing so the rheumatologist said the injection would be better so will see how I go I drink a lot of water anyway so will make sure on the first two days I drink more than usual Margaret

I've been on .04mils of self inject in my thigh for almost a year. No major side effects. I do it on Saturday nights typically so I can sleep in the next day. My immune system is lower so i have to be super careful and if i get sick my doc has me skip a dose. I think it has helped especially the tissue damage and symptoms in my hands. I don't love using it but it allows me to take less of of my other meds and the doc wants me on it till my symptoms calm down more. I do think I am more prone to bloody noses and yeast infections but if i can transition to fall without getting a finger ulcer I will take it.

Hi Margaret.

Sorry to hear you are needing to be on methotrexate. I was swapped from oral to injects then to pens some years ago. I am in 25mg and was suffering with nausea but they increased my folic acid to 5mg five days a week and Its fine now. I will be honest that sometimes I do feel a bit wrecked the day after and I do get a lot of infections (which is a by product of immunodepressants) but the benefits are far greater. It keeps my condition under control & limits progression. The choice is yours at the end of the day but as I say benefits far out way the negatives. I hope your health improves soon. All the best.

Hi Margaret,

Don't worry, you will feel much better once you have been on it for a month or so. You have not one thing to worry about. It helped me no end.

All the best. Mark.

I'm sure you will be fine.

Keep an eye on your diet Margaret. Plenty of fresh fruit and Chocolate.

A drop of whisky in a hot drink at bed time...I'm serious. It will help you relax. You will sleep better and feel better all round.

All the best Mark.
