Iron pills

I am anemic so am prescribed iron pills. The trouble is they give me constipation. My gp was asked to change to a different pill but are mucking about and not doing it. I switched the radio on last night and there was a discussion on Inside Health (I think). They said there is no scientific basis to the two pills a day default but you have less side effects and better iron absorption if you have one pill every other day. So I shall do that.

That is what the doctor said she was going to prescribe, but hasn't. If she doesn't get round to it I shall stick to a pill every other day. I don't know how anaemic I am now, I shall ask the consultant next month.

Hello

You could try Hemaplex tablets/capsules. They contain a lot of natural ingredients to help you absorb the iron- it's absorbing the iron that's the problem. They worked brilliantly for me with no side effects. You can get them online easily from places like Amazon.

You would be better off eating a healthy balanced diet, including red meat and liver which should give you all the iron your body will need. Good luck anyway.
