Sweating

Hi I’m James!

I have raynauds and am tired of excess sweating, I am a teacher and am always on the run (yes we do work before and after school 😁) but I appear to sweat at the drop of the hat. All the sites say aim for cotton based clothing but that’s not compatible with the raynauds. Suggestions please?! Thank you 🙏

Sorry James, wish I could help ...but cotton can be warm if worn in layers so can help with both Raynauds and the sweating...if at work take a change of clothing with you for really bad days...and the cotton can absorb wetness...but this is all I really can offer you help with. I get really bad sweats on any exertion too...but the top half is very warm whilst the rest of me is freezing cold. Most strange! But, good luck going forward James. x

I'm exactly the same and I hate it. This is the only deodorant that helps but it doesn't stop my head, body and face sweating :(

Hi James I sweat a lot too I use a pere d'alun stick all over the worst parts it doesn't stop the sweat but changes skin pH so that you don't smell best you can do really.

I drink loads of water to try and keep cool, that should help level things a bit, it's a trial and error thing with the clothes, layers are best, especially at work, rooms can get hot which exacerbates everything, good luck!

Hi James, I can't vouch for the effectiveness of it, but I saw an advert for Triple Dry Nourish, which they sell in Boots which (and I quote)..."provides advanced protection against heavy sweating with the added benefit of jojoba oil to nourish the skin. Clinically proven to work around the clock, keeping you sweat free for up to 72 hours." Might be worth a go????

All my best

Hi, trying to get your temperature to behave is so difficult. I am also at the age of having the menopause as well - so my body likes to throw in "hot flushes" just for the fun of it !!!

I take Rutin/Rutivite - a herbal product which I originally thought would help my leg veins. It really helps balance my body temp. I also tried Ginger Tablets - no good for me at all. However I now drink Palanquin Spiced Ginger Tea Bags. This is much better - I just have to adjust the strength with the weather.

With clothing have you tried "base layers" (they used to be called vests, etc) which have "wicking" properties. Damart make them and there are a lot of different makes associated with hiking/walking/camping/etc. Beware though some fabrics stay cold and so every time the cloth touches your skin you run the risk of an attack. Like you I have problems with cotton against my skin. I have found Cotton Traders Cotton Base Layers are great in summer and some of spring/autumn - the cotton is combed and/or ribbed so keeping it that bit warmer to the touch but it still "breathes".

The only other trick I have is that as soon as I start to get hot/sweaty I immediately take off several layers straight away and then every 5 mins or so put a layer back on again. A lot of the time this stops me getting too hot and then stops me getting too cold before I've had time to fix things.

Hope you find a good solution soon. xx
