Anyone cured Raynaud's with Thyroid meds? see links in message....

I have relative who was presribed Thyroid meds in Uk and then moved to Australia and stopped taking them. Now developed Raynaud's with digital finger tip ulcers

Been doing research and found these (see links below)

Please know that UK Thyroid blood test results and reference ranges are very questionable. Ignore being told that your TSH is 'within range' Really useful reading to know is T3 ( Tests can be done fairly cheaply privately - check out Thyroid Uk web site

Why not take these links to your GP and ask for a therapeutic trial dose of T4 (Levothyroxine) which is very safe and monitor your response?

Any comments/ info on this subject would be most appreciated.

Digital (Finger) Ulcer from Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD). This digital ulcer is 14 weeks old. It was caused by secondary Raynaud's phenomenon, in a patient with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD). The MCTD was diagnosed 5 years ago, after thyroid gland removal. are you on enough? or the right stuff?

needs change, especially with Hashimotos.

Are you on just T4?

perhaps you need T3 as well?

Just a thought for you to explore

Hi Julia,

I have been taking Levothyroxine for some years now, and my Raynauds seems to be under control except in extremely cold weather. I take lots of other meds, too, for various conditions related to SSc, so it's hard to tell what really helps.

Sorry for the long delay in responding - been on vacation.

I think the Raynauds - it seems to have been there forever, but never diagnosed. The thyroid problem was only picked up in the last eight years.
