I asked at gastroenterology about this. The consultant reckoned I had a touch of IBS which bizarrely can cause belching. She couldn't recommend anything for it. I suppose it comes down to diet.

Many years ago I experienced a lot of abdominal bloating, heartburns, pain and belching non-stop. I suffered for about fourteen years with this and was prescribed all sorts of pills and potions for indigestion with no good outcome. I was in my twenties and was convinced there was something very wrong with me. One day got so fed up that I went to see my GP again, refused to leave the surgery until something more was done to help. I told her that I was too young to be suffering so and that I felt something was wrong and that I did not think it was just indigestion. I was sent for a Gastroscopy and the mystery was solved.

It turned out that I had Gastritis. The lining of my stomach was sore hence the discomfort. My GP then prescribed Ranitidine 150mgs daily and the rest, as they say, is history. I took this medication constantly and had no more problems with belching. I am now take Omeprazole capsules as I take strong pain relief tablets and still no problems.

I hope this helps a bit. Good luck for a more comfy future.
