I have scleroder and reynauds waiting... - Scleroderma & Ray...
I have scleroder and reynauds waiting to see consultant for eyes as they think I might have glaucoma also have start of cateracts does
i have all that but not glaucoma. What is your question?
Do you think scleroderma. CAn cause glaucoma if you have leg ulcer what treatment are you having for it
I get ulcers on my ankles and each one seems to take about 10 to 12 months to heal. Sorry to have to tell you that but it is a fact. I am fortunate to live in the city and have access to an ulcer clinic at the hospital. Last year I was visiting the ulcer nurse twice a week for several months then once a week for a while. It depends a little on what causes the ulcer, in my case I have incompetent veins but maybe if it is just the skin the treatment may be different. Go to your GP or the hospital and get some advice.
Hello Suehospital. The answer to your question is yes, your eye problems could be linked to Raynaud's and glaucoma could be hereditary. My father had glaucoma and other paternal relatives have glaucoma but I am happy to say I have not inherited it.
I have just had my eyes tested for new glasses and during the test my optician said there were pigmentations at the back of my eyes which could be due to the Raynaud's and Scleroderma and my autoimmune disease in general. These pigmentations he said could be due to a disruption of the oxygen supply to the back of my eyes. I was then referred to the eye specialist at my local hospital and was seen quite quickly.
The eye examination at the hospital confirmed the optician's findings, the beginning of cataracts was detected. I was told there was nothing to be alarmed about but they will continue to monitor the situation.
The eye specialist recommended a new medication, some kind of multi-vitamins, to promote good eye health but it is very expensive. My GP is going to find out if it is available on prescription
Regarding the ulcer on your right ankle I am not able to offer much advise except to say, please ask your GP to maybe refer you to the wound care team at your hospital where the blood supply to your legs and feet can be monitored and the correct treatment given. Try not to get the wound infected try not to worry too much. Take good care of yourself. Hope you will be better soon.
Very glad to know you are getting the care you need. All seem to be going in the right direction. Make sure to keep as pain-free as possible and hope you have some support from family and friends. Looking forward to hearing how you get on at your appointments. All the best.

Thanks graygirl11. How do you stay pain free.the plain keeps me awake .and walking is painful.
i have raynauds really bad, fibrommyalgia, then came systemic sclerosis scleroderma a connective tissue disease, i also have a disorder called hypogammaglobulenemia, they are the subclasses of your igg's immune system, I go for monthly infusions to ward off infection as my body cannot. I was also diagnosed with another disease that goes along with these call sjogrens, which attacks the corneas of your eyes, causes cataracts, and extreme dryness of all eyes and mucous membranes. I would have them do a shirmers test first.
Thanks cleoshome l have got another appointment to see eye consultant on 30th July they say it will take all day
