It started off as a spot but gradually turned into what looks like a sore or a cigarette burn :/

Scleroderma is very rare in young children. You need to get the results of the doctor's consultation as the spot could be totally unrelated. However try not to worry in the meantime. If the doctor was concerned you shouldn't have to wait long.

All the best

Hi, sorry to hear about your baby and her raynauds. My daughter had raynauds from a young age as well. Try not to worry at this stage, You have done the right thing getting an appointment and hopefully it will be nothing serious, Scleroderma in children is rare. Are you seeing a gp or a specialist?

There are many different rashes/spots that can occur in young children and hopefully it will be something simple that will resolve by itself or with simple treatment.

My daughter does have linear scleroderma which started off as a patch of hard skin on her leg, it was about double the size of a 10p piece and when you touched it it was like tapping a hard surface. I noticed it around the same time as her raynauds started, It was quite different to anything else spots/ rash/dry skin wise that I'd ever seen but I couldn't put my finger on it. Lucky my gp had seen it before and he decided to refer for a specialist opinion and further investigation plus a spread of symptoms over time led to a diagnosis.

If you are just seeing a gp and feel you don't get an answer, ask to have a referal to a paediatric rheumatologist. They are the specialists in this area and will hopefully will put your mind at rest . Hope this helps and try not to worry in the mean time ( although I know that's easier said than done! ) good luck.

Well we went to see the doctor and she said she wasn't highly qualified to diagnose scleroderma and she didn't know for sure what exactly the spot is.at the moment she has given me cream to treat it as a fungal infection and if that doesn't clear it she will be referring baby back to her consultant.thank you for all your replys
