Hi Emma, you should see your doctor or chiropodist. With Raynaud's any problem with feet sould be treated very carefully as a tiny cut or infection could turn to gangrene.I have been in hospital three times in the last three years for ops and iloprost treatment due to infection in my right foot with the threat of partial amputation.Yesterday I went to see my doctor with a very sore and infected toe on my left foot.He gave me strong antibiotics. Please do not dig at it yourself it is probably something which if treated correctly could be better within a couple of weeks.See your doctor as soon as you can.Hope everything goes well.x

Hi Emma,We don't have this option at my surgery,we get seen by the doctor the same day if we ring between 8 and 9 we are very lucky.I would prefer to see a doctor who may understand your condition more but if you see the nurse and they are able to then refer you to the doctor that would be better than waiting. Hope you get in. X

Ok I'll ring as soon as they open it doesn't help the receptionist no nothing about my condition so always no help but if I don't get an appointment I'll book a chiropody today

Emma the receptionist does not need to know about your condition. They should give you an appointment regardless.I have read your replies to Kuhu and I would seriously think of changing my doctor as you are going to need more sympathy and understanding of your conditions. We all have to have confidence in our doctors.Insist on getting an appointment you have nothing to lose.x

Hi Emma,I know it is a lot of money.I have to go every three weeks to keep my feet healthy. All of my toe nails in grow.It is 25 pound each time.I have been doing this for 12 years as I cannot get a NHS chiripodist in this area.I feel it is worth every penny. You should have a lot of ease by tomorrow night.x

Emma - I agree with Smiler - please don't try to do it yourself. I hope you have a sympathetic Doctor!

Sorry, Emma! But please don't try to do it yourself. Maybe the Practice Nurse would be a better option?

Emma - please INSIST!! I agree with Smiler. I am in Africa and there would be no way the Doctor here would refuse to see you. The only problem might be waiting time, sitting in the surgery. Maybe a few tears on the phone might help!!!

Sounds like good news - your Dr has taken you seriously. Maybe a good soak when you bathe could also help. If you use a shower, just stand in a basin and collect the water as you shower and then your foot will soak as well!! Please let us know how you get on.

Hi I agree with the previous comments as I have raynauds, also have and am having problems with an ingrowing toe nail. On one toe had to have it removed 5 times, if it needs to be removed either the dr surgery might have a minor surgery unit in it, or the local hospital might or hospital a little further way. If u have to have it removed u might have to soak it in salty water, to keep the nail moist. Or like the problem I'm having at the moment on another toe it might not currently need removing you might just have to soak the foot and do whatever the dr tells u to do and just keep an eye on it.

Hope this is has been of some help, good luck with the appointment and surgery if you need it

HI Emma,

I too have a problem with ingrowing toenail from time to time. Like you, the toenail just slightly pushes it's way into the flesh a little. As soon as I feel it I am off to the Chiropodist. It is hard finding the money but my feet are too important so I don't try sorting it out myself and would discourage you from doing so.

With Raynaud's the blood circulation is already poor so don't take the risk. I am in agreement with everyone, let the doctor or the Chiropodist deal with it for you.

Some GP practices have this service but there is usually a waiting list. You seem to be getting the right attention now and will soon be more comfortable. It will feel a little sore until the little bit of toenail is removed so take care not to knock the toe in the meantime.

You should see at chiropodist as soon as possible. Don't do it yourself. We don't heal well.
