Melatonin Tablets

My doctor has advised I take Melatonin to help with sleep issues. My problem is that hormones like the Pill and HRT made me very sick. Is melatonin a hormone that might have the same outcome. I guess I could try it and see but I keep hesitating. Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated. I will also check with my GP. Unfortunately Covid 19 has reduced us to telephone consultations which mean short conversations. Thanks for any help you can give

~Melatonin is considered a safe alternative to a sleeping pill. Yes it is a hormone hence the reason GP prescribes.

I do not consider this to be in same ball park as HRT or the Pill. This is a more naturally occuring hormone and perfectly safe.

I would not be without them. I have tried a higher dose but can cause vivid dreams/nightmares in some folk - mine are 2mg and most effective.

Worth a try ~

There are many types of hormones. Sex hormones, stress hormones, hormones made from lipids and fats as well as amino acid derived which is what melatonin is.

Melatonin is a brain hormone, hormones like this affect or help control neurotransmitters, hormones that signal one nerve cell to another nerve cell.

Keep in mind melatonin is not a sleeping pill, it helps you signal the body it’s time to go sleep and can help you regulate something called your circadian rhythm (essentially working on those neurotransmitters mentioned above).
