I’ve been suffering with insomnia now for 3mths and really starting to struggle with it. At the minute I’m just getting g about 2 to 3 hours a night. Ive just started taking citalopram to help with anxiety but think just made it worse. Is anyone else taking SSRIs and if so have they helped?

hi there sorry to hear you're struggling ..im on escitalopram for depression which helps but it hasn't helped my insomnia. but it takes a good 8 weeks to take full effect and maybe when your anxiety calms a little you may sleep better we're all different. there are antidepressants that are sedative like mirtazapine but the down side is weight gain it's guaranteed but it does help with sleep

I take Gabapentin 200mg - it keeps my legs from hurting and helps me sleep - have to get used to it because it has a little carry over in the morning with slight dizziness - but worth it for me - I always get a good night's sleep - 7 or 8 hours.
