I take Fluoxetine for depression. My problem is if I have an appointment or meeting friends the next morning, I can't sleep. If I am doing the same things in an afternoon I am usually ok.It's crazy I know. The Doctor is not happy about giving me Zopiclone. Sometimes he will give me 7 . 3.75mg. If I take one I am fine, sleep well and enjoy the next day. my age is 75 . I keep active am fairly well for my age. I have a nice life and hate being like this. I often cancel things rather than lose sleep. Can someone advise me what to do? It is ruining my life.

Anxious.
One thing comes to mind. Do you have another doctor who will prescribe you enough Zopiclone? It's working for you just fine is what I hear you saying. Another idea is simply recognize your limits and avoid all appt's. in the early hours of the day. I do this myself and it works. I find the later hours are less popular and so less crowded and I get done faster with whatever my app't. is about. Friends are often flexible but you must ask or you'll never know. Guard your sleep carefully because you know how badly you do without adequate sleep...whatever adequate is for you because it varies so much between individuals. Best of luck!

T hank you Bonnie Sue. I do always try for later appointments. Most of the appointments I have are mornings only . I have tried different doctors some won't give any.
Frustrating, yes? You can only do so much. But if you have a morning app't. you might want to keep your schedule clear for a few hours afterward so you can nap or rest up for the balance of your day.
My doctor was strict with me too last Friday and only prescribed 7 Zopiclone although 7.5mg. They have the opposite effect on me and make me more awake.
Fluoxetine is Prozac and has an insomnia side effect. It belongs to a group of antidepressants SSRI's. Maybe ask your doctor for an SNRI. They are more sedating.
Are the early morning meetings causing you to lay awake worrying?
I think most insomnia is caused by anxiety or a side effect of medications.
I hope you find a solution for your problem.
Best of luck
