Rash after operation

I had a reverse shoulder replacement last Monday. Surgeon said the op went well, and I have a follow-up appointment in ten days. I've had a tough week but morphine has helped pain relief. Of course, there are side effects of severe constipation, now controlled. The day after discharge, 3 days after surgery, I developed a really itchy rash. It is on the front of neck, chest, upper back and operated on arm . It's driving me mad. I've googled it and apparently rash is quite common following anaesthetic. Thank you for any advice

Whenever I get a stubborn rash flare up I've gone to my gp. He's been really good at trying low steroid cream then higher dose steroid cream if needed. Elocon or dermovate has managed to get any rash I get under control. Just in case it's not a reaction rash post drugs and surgery or stress it's best to see your gp. If needed they can refer you to dermatology but a warning it can take months. After waiting 8 months for an NHS appointment I paid for private dermatology. You can always pop in a chemist and get them to look. They can give you steroid creams too. Sometimes our bodies need steroid help briefly as normal creams like e45 are not strong enough to get a rash under control. I hope its not too itchy and painful and you get help soon. Don't leave it, if it's itchy and you scratch it can get infected. Its happened to me twice now.

Thank you for your reply. I rang the hospital and they asked me to go straight in. Diagnosed an allergic reaction to the morphine, although in all honesty, I'm not sure that they really knew. Anyway, no more morphine, a daily antihistamine, and hydrocortisone cream. Some slight improvement but still driving me nuts. Hard not to scratch, but I'm trying. Appointment with surgeon for post op examination on May 1st so hoping he may have an opinion.
