blue blocking lenses

I've been reading that many of us suffer from light sensitivity especially under some artificial light sources. Though I need more light as I get older, some indoor places make me feel anxious and I feel the need to wear dark glasses outdoors on bright days.

Well my dental assistant told me that she began having headaches at work a few years ago. She found out about lenses that block the blue light and got some. She doesn't need glasses for vision issues but did need to wear some sort of eye protection at work. So she got some frames she liked and had blue-blocking glass put in them. Her headaches went away. The lenses look clear so you wouldn't know they aren't regular glasses.

I'm going to try some as soon as I need new glasses, maybe sooner. I'll let you know how they work, what they cost etc. I think I saw this option on Zenni.com where I got my last pair.

Hi,

Just wondering how you got on with these glasses? I’ve just received some and they made me feel really sick that I thought I was going to vomit! They seem to be a bit polarised and I think that might be what’s causing the problems. I’ve not been able to wear polarised lenses since all these problems with my eyes started. Used to wear polarised sunglasses all the time never bothered me before all these symptoms showed up. Strange, no idea why! Looks like I’ll have to stick to my regular sunglasses for indoors. Might treat myself to some fancy ones 🤗 may as well look good when people stare at me weird for wearing them inside! Or try the FL-41 tint I believe that’s good for blocking it out as well.

I don’t get anxiety with mine, but not quite sure what you mean by that?

I get terrible migraine like symptoms and it can last for days sometimes weeks depending on how long I’ve been exposed.

They weren’t cheap either, I ordered them from glasses direct it’s an extra £40 to add the blue reflect lens to your order.

Hope you’ve had better luck than me if you tried them xx

Talked with eyeglass lady at Optometrist office. The cost to add the faint yellow (not blue) tint to block blue light, would be $140 USD. And there glasses were very pricey, over $700! So I'm still looking for a place to get new glasses with blue-blocking ability at a more reasonable price. I would pay the $140 but on cheaper glasses. (Also been on vacation which has delayed my search.)

Mine have a faint yellow tint. I was too hasty writing that response. I think it was my eyes getting used to my new prescription 😂🙈 but since using them they have had no effect unfortunately and sunglasses work better. For me I think it’s not just the blue light but the flicker frequency that isn’t visible to us but is there seems to be problematic. Think it makes dry eye worse and causes havoc. Bright, blue and flicker is like a torture chamber. Hope they help you if you get them, unfortunately just as my ophthalmologist predicted... they wouldn’t help. My eyes are too far gone for that I’m afraid x

I have been affected by that flicker effect since before I had Sjogren's symptoms. But it only happens in some places now. I think the newer type of lighting in new & remodeled stores, offices, etc. aren't so bad. I really don't like the new, bluer tint ones at all and now they seem to becoming more common. I have heard rumblings that "people" are recognizing some downsides to them. Oh, well. But the combination of air conditioning and the very dry air in those types of places can really bother my eyes just like windy, dusty air outside. I wish I could give you something else to try. Maybe something will develop in the medical industry.

I’ve never had any problem with lights in my life before this happened. Colleagues would feel sick and get headaches under new office lights, and students in my uni class would complain of migraine when a light would be flickering, but it never bothered me. Now i can last about 20 mins before feeling so unwell I have to leave. New lights are worst for me, when people have cheap LED’s they’re horrible as well, cause the most flickering. The fact that they’ve even had to bring these blue light blocking glasses out mainstream now says it all really. These new lights are not good. Wish they’d have kept old incandescents and halogen so that people still had a choice.

Really hope they work for you, they seem to help people who don’t have too much of a problem with them so they might just take the edge off for you so worth giving them a try.

That’s ok, I think all of our symptoms are so different what helps for one doesn’t for another, and it’s very much about finding your own path. I just wanted to let you know they unfortunately didn’t work for me.

Hi there,

I've been also wearing glasses for a year and then I gave up on that idea. Instead of that, I found some awesome lenses and they are better and easier to wear than glasses. By the way, does anyone here wears coloured contact lenses? I'm a big fan of anime and manga and all the MARVEL's movies and I found this website healthunlocked.com/sjogrens... with lots of cool coloured contact lenses and I want to buy some. Next month is an anime festival and it will be really awesome anime cosplay festival. I just wanted to ask for any advice on that in case someone here knows how to put them and can they cause the damage to eyes?
