A friend has Sjogren's but she has no internet access, so I offered to post this. Gradually over a period of about 8 months she lost sight in one eye to the point that now she's nearly blind in that eye. At first her vision dimmed, now all that remains in that one eye is a bit of peripheral vision. Her eye doctor could find no cause of the loss of sight and told her it was likely related to her Sjogren's. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Loss of sight in one eye
Hi there, I get some blurry vision if miss out on eye drops . Does your friend take plaquenil? You need yearly eye tests if you take it as can have an adverse effect on eyes. I really hope your friend gets some answer, please give her my good wishes ☀️☀️☀️
Find another doctor. There has to be an explanation. I lost sight in one eye, just overnight, not sjogrens. Was put on meds to prevent stroke. All good now.
That doctor sounds like a dead loss your friend needs to go to an eye specialist, i can't see it having anything to do with SS but should get it checked out.
Traveller.
I have read where this can happen with Sjogrens and I think it is to do with inflammation in the artery.
Yes I have found it. It's in an old copy of The Sjogrens Syndrome Handbook I have as I was diagnosed over 25 years ago. It is called Giant Cell Arteritis or Temporal Arteritis. This may help you find it. It says it causes severe temporal headaches and can cause sudden unilateral blindness.
Hi everyone, I have SS, been diagnosed for over 16years and dont know a lot more than I did then, my surgery has two of us with SS but due to confidentiality we dont know one another. I even bought my Doctor a book about SS I dont know whether he managed to get it read or not. I get the Tinnitus and that awful earache thats right down in the ear and the bone behind the ear gets really painful too. Nice to know theres people out there that have this too. Do any of you also have related problems such as the fibromyalgia, RA and I have Ankylosing Spondulitis as well, it gets a bit much at times!!. Pleased to meet you guys. Lyzzie.
Wow, that's so unfair that you have to deal with all of those things, lyzzie! My father had ankylosing spondylitis, that's a tough one.
I also have Dercum's Disease, fibromyalgia, lipedema, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Wish someone would find a way to reverse these auto-immune issues for us!
Why does it happen like this though? practically everyone on this site has a shopping list of symtoms and illnesses, are we genetic rejects or what? Good job we were not born to the Spartans, they would have lobbed us off a cliff to save them the bother of bringing us up!!! Do you think they will ever find cures or better still preventative measures, heres hoping. Lyzzie
