I’m new here, just been told cancer returned in pelvis. Given all clear in May 2019 so reoccurred very quickly, going to have chemo probably in December. Anyone else had a similar experience,?

Yes mine came back after a year and I’ve been on chemo now for 4 years straight. Tried many different ones. They work for awhile and then stop. Now I’m on a new one that’s seems to be working and I take it in a pill form everyday for 14 days 7 days off. Better then IV. Many options of chemo. Keep the faith

Hi. Sorry about your recurrence. From my perspective you’ve done well-I recurred after 8 months. I’m now on Olaparib/Lynparza after finishing carbo doxil/caelyx for the recurrence. The Olaparib is working well and quite tolerable. Good luck with your chemo and returning to ned!🌻🌻🌻

Can I ask how you knew it had come back? I only found out because I asked for a scan following pains in abdomen. Also how many sessions of chemo have you had to have, is it continuous?

Hi. I had a pain in my left pelvis which was my original symptom. My CA 125 is always low. A scan showed a 3.6 cm tumor and two other spots around 1 cm. I had six cycles of carbo doxil then started Olaparib five weeks later. I still had an 8 mm tumor at the end of chemo which didn’t bother the oncologist but bothered me. They told me I would always be on treatment but I see many others who are ned after two recurrences. At last scan my tumor was almost undetectable. You may we’ll have a good remission after chemo.

Curious, what was the grade and stage of your cancer? Did you have a feeling it had recurred or did it show up on a scan? I see my oncologist tomorrow for first check-up since finishing chemo and I'm very nervous. I've had an itchy rash for several months and recently had acute stabbing pain twice in the right side of my pelvis. The pain was like nothing I've experienced and lasted about an hour each time. My oncologist dismissed both symptoms directing me to my dermatologist for rash and PCP for pain.My PCP ruled out appendicitis. Rash is still with me. I want another CT scan even though I know he'll probably give me push back. I hope everything turns out well for you.

Mine was stage 3, I had a clear scan after chemo finished and low blood tests and my oncologist was very hopeful. But a year on I was having pains in abdomen and was told it was due to constipation! Insisted on a scan which showed it has returned. Plan is to redo scan November and probably chemo in December. Funnily enough I also had a rash which I have just seen a Dermatologist who was fairly dismissive!, Worried treatment is being delayed because of Covid.

Thank you for your reply. My cancer was diagnosed as high serous grade, IIIB stage OC. I just looked at my CA125 from yesterday and it's 11 which is down 2 from the last one in June so he won't approve a scan. Aside from being scared about a recurrence, I'm most afraid I won't recognize symptoms. You take care and let us know how you're doing. This is a wonderful site full of caring individuals.
