Hello! I just had my second recurrence with stage IV ovarian and finished chemotherapy. My recent ct scan showed no evidence of disease. I spoke with my oncologist about maintenance options. I have been on Zejula after the 1st recurrence, so this time we decided on Letrozole. Have any of you been on it?

Maintenance
I have been on Letrozole and Afinitor for 18 months. Targeted therapy. Only side effects for me are weak nails and some stiffness in joints of fingers.
I had recurrence of uterine cancer.
I hope you stay well.😇
Have you explored the Olaparib option? I've been in remission for 5 years on it.
How many mg. of Zujula were you taking before your recurrence. I am on 100mg. daily. This is my second time surviving Peritoneal Carcinoma Stage III. I pray the Zujula continues to work for me. Going through chemo a third time would be difficult, It was a tough ride for me the second time around. My prayers go out to all.
I started on 300mg but it was too strong so I eventually went to 100mg. It worked for about 13 months. Which is the longest I have been Ned. I just finished my third round of chemotherapy. We are trying Letrozole now. I hope for a longer remission this time. I’m glad Zejula is working for you.
Hello what was your experience with Zejula? My dr wants to put neon this. Did you have bad side effects? Also did you get financial help for Zejula. It’s so ridiculously expensive.
I didn’t have any side effects when I dropped from 300 mg to 100 mg. Up until then I had low platelets and had to do one blood transfusion and iron therapy. If you have health insurance through your job, you can get Zejula at a huge discount. I hope it works well for you!
Hi Sherry. I have a Medicare advantage plan - united health Care and when I called my insurance the discount thru them was $2700 for 90 pills for 30 days. I’m also looking into other discount options thru a pharmacy. I’m going to ask my dr if I can just take 100 mg a day as I’m reading a lot about nausea and higher doses. Ok I’ll stay in touch. I hope zejula will work well for you. Oh one more question is zejula a newer drug?
Zejula was approved by the fda April of 2017, so it is fairly new. My first recurrence was only after 6 months. With Zejula it was 13 months before my 2nd recurrence . It delivered on its promise. I hope things go well for you.
Hi Sherry,
Thank you for your message. Glad that you were 13 months in NED with zejula before a recurrence. It is a fairly new medication. Are you going on another parp inhibitor?
God bless,
Mary
I am trying Letrozole, used mostly in breast cancer, but I was estrogen positive so we will see if this works. If not, we will probably try another parp inhibitor. Thank you and God bless you💕
Hi Sherry,
I have been on Letrozole since September 2017. Diagnosed 11/18/2016 with PPC IIIC, after 6 rounds of carbo/taxol I had surgery, then three more rounds of chemo.
My cancer was 80% estrogen fed. I had been on Estrodial for almost 3 years. For hot flashes and peri-menopause.
I take Letrozole once a day in the morning. I do have some sore joints and stiff fingers in the morning, but it beats the alternative 😊
I hope it works well for you! I have been NED Since September 2017 as well.
Good wishes teal sister 🦋
Jules
Hi Sherry,
I pray the Letrozole helps you. Do you get anxious trying these new meds? I’m anxious about the zejula but I have to hand that over to God.
God bless you,
Mary
