Anybody have a pleural effusion with type 3c ovarian cancer
I did when I was first diagnosed. I was diagnosed stage 3C in 2005. Instead of draining it they said if I could hold out until I got through a couple is cycles of chemo (carbo/taxol), the taxol would likely resolve the pleural effusion. It did go away. I had a recurrence in 2007-2008. But have been cancer free since November 2008. Hope that helps. Gwen
Have just posted about this albeit I’m stage 4a. Had 3 pleural drains and then a pleurodesis on Tuesday night. I’m High Grade Serous too.
Thank you for your response . I know you will do good with that positive attitude.
In April, 2013, I was very short of breath. I went to my doctor who immediately admitted me to the hospital. I was diagnosed with a plural effusion and VAT surgery was performed. The results were benign, but some further testing found masses on my ovaries. I had a hysterectomy in June and was diagnosed with Stage 2C (later changed to 2B under the new FIGO guidelines) Grade 1, endometroid ovarian cancer. I did 18 weeks of dose dense chemo which ended in December, 2013 and have been fine since then.
I had no symptoms, so having the plural effusion and finding the ovarian cancer, by chance, at an early stage may have saved my life.
i have stage 4 and had a small one that was painful enough at one point to go to er, thinking it was a kidney stone. it hadn't hurt before but the doc said sometimes the do.
