Ablation

I had a liver oblation. The lesion was 3.2 cm. 4 days have already passed. I have acute pain with any movement and breathing. A strong painkiller helps. Is it normal for there to be no improvement after 4 days? If anyone has had such a procedure and could share their experience?

Please call your oncologist ASAP.

There should be improvement after 4-5 days. Please call the surgeon who did the ablation. Acute pain should not be in the picture. --Trish

HI Trish,I talked to the nurse and she said it's normal. It was because I didn't take Oxysodone to begin with and I was prolonging the recovery process.

I have had 2 liver ablations, and found any movement that involved twisting or bending was very painful for several days afterwards. It was worse after the 2nd procedure as I suffered some burning to my peritoneum. I think the information sheets under estimate the impact of this procedure, although a lot may depend on location of tumours. Mine sat at the very top of the liver, so quite an uncomfortable place.

Breathing issues are a common complication of a general anaesthetic. Look up deep breathing exercises, they will help.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been sick for 9 days after the procedure. They burned out 4.2 cm of my liver. The anesthesia was intravenous and at some time I felt severe pain. They increased the anesthesia and I don’t remember anything from that moment. All days To this day I have a fever and it hurts to breathe, there is a little fluid in my lungs and my diaphragm is inflamed because the tumor was nearby. The doctor says that it could be. I constantly take Oxycodone. I sweat a lot at night, I have lost a lot of weight. I don’t know if I could bear it yet times. Why did they do it to you twice? Are they different tumors or the same one?

Sorry I did not see your post sooner. I had liver ablation 2 months ago for 2 tumors , one tumor was located right next to diaphragm/lung. I had significant pain, until was given prednisone to reduce inflammation, in addition to Oxyco. Suggest ask your radiologist about Prednisone. I hope your pain has improved significantly!

Very interesting. 2 weeks have already passed since the ablation. I no longer take oxyco. there is no pain anymore, but I feel weak and night sweats. Blood analysis shows improvement, but very slow recovery. Yes, and there is a small fluid in the lungs. I will see a radiologist a month after city scan

Worth adding, I got the results of my scan a couple of days ago, and am in remission, so definitely worth it
