My mom had a 13 mm brain met in July . She had the single beam one day radiation treatment and it continues to shrink. She started on evermolimus I know that’s misspelled . It didn’t work so she started xeloda. But only one cycle so not long enough to tell if it’s working . Today she a had a repeat brain scan. She has 2 new 5mm met . Does anyone know if they will zap those also? Thanks so much ❤️

Update!!! Appt went great! Doing radiation of two tiny spots . He said this is why they do mri every 3months to catch them while they are tiny. He said they were so tiny no steroids even needed. Have to find the positive in everything!! Trucking on ! Thank you for reply’s thoughts and prayers🙏❤️

Hi Flower,

I don’t know the answer to your question though I don’t see why not; you need to discuss with radiation oncologist. What I did want to mention is that the drug Enhertu is supposed to work well on brain mets. Just something to keep in mind.

Best,

Helen

Thank you for taking the time to reply ❤️ I know that Enhertu is next I do believe. I’m just not sure when. She just started xeloda 2 weeks ago. My prayer is that it does work for now. But I know they know best. We go to her Rad onc today so I’m sure they will have a plan as far as zapping or not. I just like kinda knowing a little going into the appt. It’s overwhelming for me and I can’t even imagine for her and all of you. My heartfelt prayers for everyone in this group. ❤️

I pray it works too. By the way…another tip. There was a recent study that showed that diclofenac cream/lotion is really good at preventing or reducing hand foot syndrome which Xeloda can cause. I haven’t had Xeloda yet and this makes me much less apprehensive about it. Apparently you need to start applying it right away. Sometimes doctors don’t have time to see all these studies.

Probably. Do you have her appointment scheduled?

Was it Gamma radiotherapy your mother had? If so it's very successful though it doesn't stop new spots of disease which can arise anytime, anywhere. So I'm assuming your mum had Gamma radiotherapy . Based on my experience when I relapsed in the liver, lungs and brain last year, I'd say Enhertu (which I'm on) would be the next systemic treatment for your mum. Enhertu can cross the blood/brain barrier making it more effective.

I hope this helps.
