I am so frustrated! My second application for a MMC was denied as the Physicians
License # was in error. The first one was denied because their phone number was not included. This is just crazy!
I've written a letter about that to them and will be giving it to either my onc or the NP that I see today and am giving them two of their forms in case there is a mistake and am having them mail it back to me so I can double check it.
Their social worker does these, I recently learned and the only time I've talked to him was when he phoned me and frankly, he seemed rather dumb! As a formed LCSW myself, and daughter and step mother of the same, I was surprised and don't trust this jack-ass!
I need to find a way to laugh about this.

well at the end of the day, YOU'RE getting medical marijuana! laugh about that, you WILL get your medicine! God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen! <3
Thanks! The palliative care NP walked thru the waiting room, saw mem and came over to chat. I told her about this and asked her to intervene for me. She took the forms and stamped envelope to send the physician's form back to me, talked to the social worker and emphasized the need for accurate info. She kept the letter I'd written to go with this, and after reading it, did say it was not at all out of bounds, LOL, and we had a good laugh. About the medical marijuana, I have gotten CBD oil and gummies--they help me sleep! They just aren't as "strong" as what can bought with the MM card, plus those with the card pay less. I hope I never need stronger stuff, but if I do, I'llbe able to get it.
I get you! I take gabapentin now for the after-effects of shingles and at first I said I didn't want that but then the itch/tingle over my eye was so insane I ended up begging for it, it helps me tremendously and should be able to get off of it in a month or two. I was afraid of it because a friend of mine took it and kept increasing the dose when it didn't work for the pain anymore and finally reached the maximum dose and she asked the dr. what could she do to get off of it and he advised her to go to a methadone clinic! A bloody methadone clinic, can you believe it? Anyway, thanks for the post because I think we have medical marijuana available in Texas also and worth knowing about in case I ever need anything for pain, or maybe it would work for this post herpetic itch/tingle the shingles left. By the way, I think I caught the shingles virus at the gym so if you go to the gym, be sure and wipe down the equipment BEFORE you get on it. I think I've already said this but it bears repeating again as this has ruined my going to the gym until I get all my strength back. I am so happy you're getting your MM! So insurance covers it then? I always figured it was very expensive. Nice to "see" you Prayers for you and Jesus heal us all in your magnificent name, amen! <3
I'm on gabapentin, too. You're in Texas---one of the best BC conferences is held every year i n San Antonio, the San Antonio BC Symposium. The National BC Coalition has info about it and has meetings for patients. If you google either of those you can probably find good info.
Thank you, dearheart! always reading and learning from others! I always hate it when others suffer but I have a whole new respect for people with neuropathy and NERVE PAIN, that is from the pit of hell itself I feel! God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen! <3
hi.! both Medicare parts B and D don't cover the cost of marijuana, whether medical or recreational. part C (supplemental), depending on which one and which state, may potentially cover a portion, but mostly likely not. the benefits of an MM card are mostly for receiving discounts on some marijuana products and in some states, you avoid paying taxes on the marijuana. if bought at a dispensary. my cancer center has collectively decided not to issue MM cards so all of the oncologists (including mine) are unable to prescribe one. same with my PCP office, none of the docs there are allowed to prescribe either. I just buy the recreational marijuana which is legal in MA, where I live, and avoid the hassle of trying to find a doctor who will prescribe a card. like I said, I end up paying state taxes at the dispensary but to me...it is worth it. or I can buy it from a reputable source and avoid the taxes😊. just an fyi. carole xo
How much is it and how much do you get? no one ever talks about it and I feel the price should be known by the public. Only if you want to share of course and I'll admit, I've never googled it! Is it actual weed or is it in gummy form? I know so little about it and just curious, hope you don't mind. <3 God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen!
hi again. I think prices probably vary by location. and as for how much you get, it depends on how much you want😊. are you going to consume every day, multiple times a day....blah blah. you get the idea...lol. THC can be bought as edibles or weed...personal preference. an ounce of high grade weed can be bought in western MA for $200-$300 at a licensed dispensary. you could also buy from an independent seller for approx $200. hope I answered somewhat.
Humans make mistakes 😭.It is frustrating. While attempting to get help with the manufacturer of Afinitor there have been two rejections so far for missing required info from Moffitt.
Also,my latest scan scared my husband as it read that I had had huge progression. My nephew is an oncologist in another state, but we had him check my portal info He found there had been a typographical error in the scan report🙄
So hope you get your marijuana and I get my Afinitor discount card SOON.🙏🙏🙏
It's wonderful that you have an oncologist in the family! Things like typos are so crazy, except of course for those oof us with cancer and neuropathy! It's crazy when medical sysstems don't communicate well....grrrr!
Yes,I actually have 2 nephews who opened St Elizabeth Hospital in the Greater Cincinnati area.My younger sister died at age 43 of BC and two of her son's are oncologists and researchers now to help save others.I live in Florida or I would be under their care.
And YES it is crazy when our medical systems can't communicate well🙄
I had a cat scan show huge progression and it was a cat scan that highlighted all the inflammation in my body from a gall stone I had passed, false flag(my opinion from what I've read! Here almost a year later, no pain whatsoever! Guess it scared the onc though because he hasn't ordered any more scans and told me I had about 6 mos. to live, and that 'women are living longer on drugs such as verzenio' MBC 4 in the bone. Do I still have cancer even? <3 God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen!
That’s so frustrating. Do you only have medical use approved in your state? Here in Massachusetts we’re able to purchase it for recreational use as well. I got my card the first year and then didn’t bother renewing it after that. Turns out that I’d have to buy over $1000 of products a year to break even on what the card saved me in sales taxes. Good luck. I hope you get this resolved soon.
That is so incredible frustrating. I hope now your NP is on top of it that they’ll get it correct next time around!
So I’ve been starting to think about pursuing cbd product for pain (and maybe sleep too) now that I’ve had to suddenly take ibuprofen every day for the last 2 weeks due to various different pain “events” ! Is your NP advising you on products, or just helping you get the card? I’m trying to work out who to talk to get advise on the right mix for me
The NP recommended CBD oil and pills but the store she recommended pushed gummies! Her help with the doctor's form was talking to the young social worker who fills those out. We'll see if it makes a difference!
How frustrating! You would think the people who basically fill out paperwork for a living would get it right. Ugh. I’m actually taking Delta 9 (just 5 mg which is very low) a couple hours before bedtime and it helps me fall asleep. I’m in Texas and found that buying Delta 9 is a whole lot easier than trying to get medical marijuana. I don’t know if where you live allows it, but it’s quite inexpensive. I get the 10mg gummies and cut them in half.
Thanks....I'll goggle Delta 9. When I saw that I thought you going to say you are flying somewhere......guess this is a different kind if "flying." LOL
i received the mmc through an independent, licensed mm doctor. i provided the necessary documentation, from the cancer center, to the mm doctor. eight years later, i am still happy with this choice for pain. i have the yearly mmc renewal appointment this week.
I just resigned from my Job as a Budtender, Everything has to be correct I don’t know why no one can get it right but it will improve I promise I have seen it happen 100’s of times. But they are getting programs together now just be patient like we had to do ! I am in WVa Medical only and it’s a lot better in just a few months … enjoy it when it comes it’s saving my life or at least allowing it to be a quality life also !!
