Liver Mets

ok so I've started the Piqray and so far I feel pretty amazing! Not too many side effects ( taste buds are off) but I feel so much better than on Verzenio! I was just wondering... does anyone here have liver Mets and if so did they bother you at all as you started new treatment? Or did you have any pain from them at all???? Thanks so much 😃

hi DianaSav , I have liver Mets that progressed this spring so I was switched from Xeloda to Piqray. So far I’ve felt pretty good from Piqray - felt no side effects at all the first month then had a bit of diarrhea / nausea in week 5, fortunately that was short-lived. I don’t feel anything from the liver mets, which for me is part of the surreal aspect of this disease - where I can’t see/feel anything wrong but know in my head I have this scary diagnosis! 😕 I hope you have good results from Piqray.

Hi. I had one liver met that my liver surgeon did microwave ablation on in June. Although it doesn’t solve the metastatic disease, it prevented that met from growing larger. I highly recommend getting it done if you are a candidate as it was easy to recover from.

Hello,

I have liver Mets and they have only bothered me a few times, in the very beginning before I was diagnosed and then about six months ago when I had progression. My Onc said there is a membrane around our liver and sometimes when our liver is inflamed it will push against that membrane causing mild discomfort. Sounded good to me.

I had short success with Piqray/Fulvestrant, it made all my tumor markers tank down into the normal range and I felt great on it (compared to chemo). After three months I had tiny progression but I feel like we didn’t give it enough time. My blood sugar just started to rise at that time so that wasn’t a huge problem either.

Good luck!

The liver has no pain receptors.

Liver "pain" can be experienced as back pain or abdominal discomfort.

I was diagnosed with De Novo Metastatic Breast Cancer in August 2022, with extensive liver, lung, and bone mets, plus a large pleural effusion. Like LDR1's reply I don't feel anything from the liver mets, and never have. I've been on Letrozole and Ibrance since September 2022, and liver mets have got slightly smaller. Fortunately I have no side effects from the medication, and feel really well despite having MBC.

Hi. I started Piqray 2 months ago and. it worked wonders in reducing my tumor markers. I have no side effects right now. I hope Piqray works for a long time for me as I have read on this forum that for some they have been on it for years whereas for others it just works for a few months.
