Six Liver Lesions Ablated With Complications

Done on Feb 20.. Doctor went through lungs. Collapsed lungs. Had air in lungs. After surgery, Doctor did another PET scan and found two more lesions but decided not to go back in. Will have another PET scan in a few weeks which will reveal more info. I feel that I am a way from being out of the woods. Oncologist just called while writing this. She is urging Ibrance!

what is the reason you’re hesitating to take Ibrance?

Jersey,What an awful procedure to go through. I wish you the very best. Ibrance has worked well for me. The tumors in my lungs have either disappeared or been reduced in size. Hopefully, it will be the right drug for you too. Blessings, Hannah

oh dear. People say ablation is straight forward but I guess not always. I hope you’re recovering. It sounds awful

Per the Ibrance …I wish I could go back on it. It was so easy. And it works well for many women.

I had1 liver lesion ablated in August, and 2 liver lesions ablated on March 1. There was a third which was really small and was hard to access, so we’ll do that one later. Aside from nausea from anesthetic, and being a bit sore, it was an easy procedure for me to tolerate. March 1 fell during my off week from Xeloda, which was good. I wish I could still take Ibrance.

Best wishes to all!

A large lesion was removed on Feb17 2020. Then two medium sized lesions were removed on July 2022. Removing six lesions at the same time was the oncologist's directive to the interventional radiologist/surgeon. I do not think that she wanted to do it, indicated by a comment made before the surgery. Because they had developed in three short months shown by a clear PET scan three months prior, I think that the oncologist wanted to pass it off to the surgeon rather than continuing discussion about Ibrance. Now, we are back to it.

Ibrance is working well for me. Don’t worry if that is your next move.

Dear Claireperth, Tolife_life, hdhonda, Pbsoup, 1711JPD and Nocillo, ----- Thank you for the support which is felt, believe me. Further, nearly all of you are giving the thumbs up for Ibrance. Three years ago, Ibrance was offered to me. I declined because Letrozole was prescribed at the some time and one variable is enough to test at a time. The Ibrance rep called and I asked how much. $17,000 per month for one patient was the answer! I was horrified but now, if it will help extend my time, I will take it with little or no qualms. Meanwhile, I am attempting to look at other similar drugs and although the oncologist is pushing it, no decision will be made until after the PET scan on the 27 March. Thank you for being here.

What is keeping my mind churning now, is if the cancerous cells have contaminated my liver in any way.

I have been on Ibrance for four years. Been NED since shortly after I started it; had one met in hip. Now I am eligible for Medicare, but have not gone on it as Ibrance would be $12k a year. You can apply for vouchers to get it for free. When Biden announced a $2k cap on meds for seniors at the State of the Union, he failed to note that specialty drugs like Ibrance fall outside this. Know you are treated at MSK. Ask them to help with vouchers if your ins will not cover it. Letrozole is keeping your estrogen level low. Ibrance keeps cancer cells from multiplying. Letrozole was what I took after early stage, not MBC. It worked for abt 7 years, then poof did not. Now on faslodex shots and Ibrance.

Dear AB - Was only on Letrozole for fourteen months and then had the first ablation of the very large lesion which had become cancerous under the care of Letrozole. I am now getting the Faslodex injections/infusions and am very happy with living with no side effects. Trouble is they are no longer working. Thank you for the clear info on how Ibrance works. It does seem make sense. The company has cleared me so that I would get it free.

They work in tandem...a very good thing. My first MSK Dr explained it. Great on getting it for free. I own my own company and even being part of a bigger company that helps with rates my insurance costs are insane!!!!

Oh no! Sorry to hear Ibrance will fall outside the new Medicare $2K caps. I am eligible for Medicare next year. Ibrance has been a miracle drug for me. How were you able to verify there will not be a cap on speciality drugs?

I couldnt afford the Ivrance but was able to get it directly from the manufacturer at no cost. My cancer center has several patient advocates who worked directly with Pfiser (?) on the paperwork. I hope you treatment place has sonething similar. Best wishes. ♥️

hi, on ibrance for the past 12 mos with minimal s/e. As for the expense, go on ibrance website and register for their program for reduced or $0 copay.

Thank yip, Aquamoron-- I am registered to get it for free through Memorial Sloan Kettering. No decisions will be made until they review a PET scan which will be done on March 27. Meanwhile, I see that my oncologist has written in her notes that I. have agreed Ibrance. Interesting!
