New liver Mets and other results from scan

Wolverine19 profile image
22 Replies

Hi everyone I had a scan Monday and the results are not good. I have two new growths on my liver and several new nodules in my lungs. Also a large pleural effusion which I have never had. Bone scan showed activity on sternum. I will go to the doctor tomorrow to determine what is next. This was not totally unexpected but I didn't expect there to me quite that many changes. I think there will be a change of meds. We talked about clinical trial this summer but I'm not sure they are still doing that with the virus. This is going to be a heavy appointment for me tomorrow, I am more nervous than usual. She also talked about doing radiation or possibly surgery as there is an opening on my upper abdomen, probably from the liver growth. Like the cancer is eating out the skin on the surface and it is getting bigger. So I will post tomorrow on what my doctor advises next. I have been on ibrance for a year now along with faslodex and it definitely appears it is no longer working.

I am so sorry about the oresults. Let's just hope there is a nice medicine that you did not try.

Mine has reached the liver also and it damn scary to hear. Then you talk to you oncologist and she says we have a lot of options out there. And she does,so calm down. Try to think positive. There is a new drug called Pisqay maybe she will try it.we all know how feel and I will be thinking of you..

Hi Barb yes your symptoms do you sound very similar to mine. I have been taking ibrance the past year along with faslodex injections so I don't think that will be an option for me any longer. Anyway we will see what tomorrow brings. It's good to know that there is someone like you out there who is going through a similar thing as me. I hope the ibrance works out well for you.

God bless courageous lady. Extra Prayers and love for you today.

Wolverine - My gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about your results. It's bad enough to learn about new progression, but you've got the complications with your stomach, too!

I'll echo what JerseyGirl said about there hopefully being a more effective treatment queued up for you. Something to beat that cancer back!! I met with my doc on Monday and we reviewed my past, current, and future treatments and I found it very encouraging. She also said that there is a big meeting coming up which often results in some new options.

As Barb said, today has come with lots of unhappy news here on the site...Please know that we are with you and wishing you the best.

Sending love and support your way...

Lynn

Thanks Stone rocks. I am always so grateful for all of the tips and reading about others experiences on this site. It is always especially helpful when the treatment plan changes so going forward I know the right questions to ask my doctor. This blog really does help me to formulate questions for my oncologist

And can I tell you, as a girl who is reading from the sidelines here. ....? I am so sorry to hear that you women are having such awful troubles. Wolverine! This pack is here for you. I so want you not to be in pain. But all we can do is be here waiting for you to let us know how you are! That’s it.

I am hoping you will let us know how you are going.

What a time for you!?!!

Sending Thoughts and hope for softness for you.

In reading yours and Nancy’s and Barbs messages today, I am feeling so sad, and so thankful. Sad that you all have to go to this awful place. But so thankful that I have had a chance to read your stories and see your paths. Paths that we will all walk.

Hugs to you too Wolverine!

Thank you Tim Tam, I am always happy for other people when they get good news no matter how my treatments are going. I think everyone should be like that. Sometimes other people aren't doing as well or maybe I'm not, but we can all be happy when others are doing okay. Like I know some places they ring the bell when chemo treatments are finished and there is some controversy about that because I guess it upset some patients when they're not doing so well. They took a survey at my hospital to see how patients felt about that. I am all for it because any kind of encouragement or joy we can give to others is the best way to go.

I am sorry to hear you are going thru this. I was on the same combo which also stopped working for me so I was put on another oral combo which has helped! Afinitor and exemasten is my current regime. Your onc will have a plan for you! Try not to stress although easier said then done. Sending good vibes your way. Faith

Hi Faith, I'm getting ready to write a separate post about my results today. I thought I was going on afinitor as well but my doctor is probably going to put me on clinical trial. You might want to check out my post to hear the whole story. Thanks for your input.

Sister/warrior : I am praying that the trial your doctor is offering will kick cancers a-- right out of your body. God forgive me for that profanity laced sentence. Your pen name depicts strength. Stay strong even in the face of this challenge. I do send you virtual hugs from at least now 10 feet away. XoXoXo

Hi Overcomer, I think Wolverines are the coolest animal. I saw a movie about a wolverine that help the boy even if it appears vicious. I just sort of picked that name randomly because of the movie. I do have a heart for animals.
