Verzenio loss of taste

Hi Ladies, I’ve been on been on Faslodex and Verzenio since August 2022 for MBC and after 3 months developed altered/loss of taste. I also was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroid and don’t know if that has anything to do with it. It’s been maddening ! Has anyone else experienced this and what have you found that helps?

Dear Lavender,

I am not on Verzenio but I am on Ibrance. I never completely lost my taste but things that I usually like began to taste vile. Kind of like it is during pregnancy. Gradually that lessened over time. Thank goodness. I also had a metallic taste at times. That too has somehow been ameliorated. Good luck to you,

Hi Lavender, I have been on Faslodex and Ibrance for about two years now. I am going into my 4 year since I was diagnosed. I began with Ibrance and letrazol ,then switched to Ibrance and Faslodex. Since switching to Faslodex, my hair has thinned considerably over the last 9 months, although currently, it seems to be growing back in some. About 4 months ago I noticed a change in my sense of taste and smell. Many foods smelled and tasted like chemicals to me, most of all strawberries! Although, on the Faslodex website it does not list any changes in taste or smell as a side effect, I found a Mayo Clinic study on Faslodex side effects, that included a possible change in taste and smell on their list . I'm hoping this side affect will diminish over time, like my hair loss growing back in. This is certainly an ever changing puzzle we are all working on, isn't it?? Best Wishes, Sally

I was on 50 mg. (1 pill) of verzenio and the monthly falsodex injections. Unlike some others, I had no problem with the shots. I had three and a half years on it. My onco had started me at 150 mg. of verzenio and the severe diarrhea was too much so I stopped it after two weeks. Then she put me on 2 100 mg. of verzenio, same issue so again I stopped until my next visit. She was annoyed a bit and then said well I can only give you 2 mg. of 50 which is the lowest dose. After a few months, I chose (I know, not good) to only take on verzenio per day so only 50 mg. every day. I was no longer tired and felt normal. It worked for three and a half years.
