Hi-- first time poster here. I have been metastatic for 8 years and am currently on Verzenio. The onc already reduced the dose but I'm still having a horrible time with diarrhea, even with taking 6 lomotil daily. Would like to hear from others with similar experiences and how you've handled the problem. I'm very active and the D truly interferes with my life. Thanks in advance!

Verzenio and diarrhea
Welcome and sorry to hear you have a problem with mets. Maybe your Oncologist could refer you to a dietician as maybe you are being denied all the Vitamins and Minerals you need for your condition.
Iโm on different medication but I had the opposite problem when I first went on my medication but I was referred to a dietician.
Hope you get it sorted out.
Take care
Sorry to hear about your nasty side effect. Iโm sorry I donโt have any advice (I go the other way and get bunged up), but just wanted to congratulate you on your 8 years.
Clare
Thank you!
Hello, that sounds debilitating.. I haven't suffered too much with diarrhea on Verzenio. I make my own kefir to improve my stomach flora. It has a wider range of flora than yogurt.. I make it into cacao shakes... lovely.! You can buy it too - which is more expensive. Buy Kefir seeds online to start off the culture.
Hi,
I had a similar problem when I started on it in July of last year. Give it time! Soon, it disappeared. Let the drug do its work.

Hi, Lnlc,
I have read in several articles that have claimed that Verzenio resolves over time but that treatment with anti-diarrhea meds should be maintained in the meantime. Also, have to be very careful about dehydration. Drink LOTS OF WATER!
Out of curiosity, is Verzenio the only MBC treatment you have received in eight years? If not, what preceded this treatment?
God bless you!
XO Linda
So far, I have bone mets only, too. For that I'm grateful. I've had MBC for almost three years, so your eight years sounds absolutely AMAZING! Would you mind sharing which of your treatments lasted the longest without progression?
God bless you and stay strong!!
XXOO, Linda
Hi Linda....this is going to sound strange, I know, but I don't keep a list of the medications or duration of their treatment as I figure my doctor has that. It's also a way for me not to dwell on the treatment. I know I'm very fortunate in that I've been pain free, active, and except for the rare side effect from the meds, living as usual the past 8 years. I think not remembering the prior treatments is my way of coping: if I don't think about being sick, if I don't feel sick, then I don't realize (in an active way) that I have a life threatening disease. Hope that makes sense! So, I'm afraid I can't provide an answer to your very valid question. Ellen
I had problems when I first started Verzenio at 150 mg. Dr. reduced dosage to 100 and then finally 50 mg. I have no problems with the 50 mg twice a day. The 150 was horrible!
I was seeing double and losing alot of weight. I hope you're able to work things out.
Eeeeeek. That sounds horrible (and familiar). Yes, the 100mg seems to be treating me better...so far.
Hi, Lnlc!
Just wanted to give you a ๐๐๐๐for your successful treatment of MBC. Do you mind sharing your sequential treatments since diagnosis?
Hope that your D issues have resolved, too. Have you tried immodium?
Blessings! ๐๐
