I haven't had surgery for that. Is the fluid plueral fluid or fluid actually inside the lung? I have had plueral fluid aspirated twice in hopes it would help my shortness of breath issue.

Hi Sweetie! I have had pleural effusion with two thoracentis procedures. No surgery. Not sufficient fluid in the pleural cavity to drain.

I had fluid drained and a pleural catheter inserted. It wasn’t very memorable other than having to keep the catheter super clean to avoid infection. The annoying part was making sure the bottles came on time because of insurance.

Good luck!
