mbc found in lung

my mother has been diagnosed with mbc in lungs after 8 years when she finished her treatment in 2012. she has started taking ibrance with letrozole ..can i expect her to be with me for around 10 years.

I’m in the same situation as you. My mother has MBC with lung mets. She was diagnosed 4 months ago. I had the worst time at the beginning,but after I found this site I actually found a comfort. There is a lot of women that have been living with this disease 10,15,17 years. I hope our mothers will live for a very long time🙏🙏🙏.P.S she will have mri and ct scan on this Wednesday and I’m extremely worried,but keep thinking positive.

i really wish the same .she was suffering from cough for about 4-5 months,and we thought it is because of winter season in india. but then went for ct scan and found tumor in lung.started ibrane and letrozole a month back.

i believe god would help us. cant even think in dreams of loosing her.

Don’t even think about it. My mom has several small tumours in her both lungs.Ibrance and Letrozole should work. If not,there are still different treatment options. Trust me I do understand all your feelings. I still can’t believe that my mom has MBC,but this is life and it’s what it’s. We should be happy that there are treatment options for them and be thankful that we have access to those expensive medications. My mom has been having an inverted nipple for almost 3 years and she was not concerned about it. And what I’ve noticed also that she would cough every morning and clearing her throat a lot. Mammogram showed cancer. Luckily she had mets only in her lungs,all her body was clear (hopefully still the same) After she started ibrance it got better but it’s been 2 weeks now that she has dry coughs on and off. I do hope that it’s just allergy. Hopefully her scan shows improvement or at least stable results🙏. Just try to be positive for your mom. My sister handles all this situation better than me,maybe because she is far. I couldn’t and my doctor prescribed me antidepressant. It helped me a looooooot. All of a sudden I was able to control all my bad thoughts,my emotions and be more positive. How old is your mom?

Many thanks for encouraging words. she has reduced coughing, but some times feels breathing problems , has put on some weight. before she used to work a lot in field. i am from typical Indian village area. we are having cows, before she was found always busy in farming and house hold works. now she had turned little bit weak but she is a fighter . i hope things goes well for our mothers.

That’s fine… medication has side effects and they need to rest more. Don’t worry everything will be fine. By the way I’m in love with Bollywood movies))). How old are you?

I am on same treatment, I am 72. I had a cough which was misdiagnosed. The cough mostly stopped after I started the same treatment as your Mum and I soon felt a lot better and put some weight back on. I have peaks and troughs in my stamina, and have found I don't cope so well with taking on too many things like before. It feels like the cancer has taken some of my brain space, its probably the wondering. But I've taken great comfort from the ladies on this site. I wish your mum well ands hope you can enjoy one another's' company for many years. x

I am born and brought up in india.

For past 10 years working in u.a.e.

Havnt seen my mother for last 1 year or so,because of flight restrictions.

My name is devendra.i am bit lucky to have this medicine covered under my brother employee policy .1st dose i had to bear,its my month salary.But another 3 doses got through my brothers employee health insurance .

And i got to know that afer 9th dose ,this medicine will provided for free .

Pfiser has come up with this medicine.

I do talk to her on video call on daily basis.

When i came to know about her cancer reoccurance ,i was in shock and used to cry while working in office behind mask.we have told her that she will be alright and should continue medicine for atleast year.

I'm sorry to hear of your mother's diagnosis. I was diagnosed with lung metastases in 2011, 18 years after my early-stage breast cancer diagnosis.

Thts positive ,what medicine you have been taking .my mother has started taking ibrance 125mg , letrozole .she is due for scanning after 3rd dose.i hope it goes good.

Wow, how wonderful!.Did you have nodules in your lungs? My mom will have her first scan tomorrow after 4th dose of ibrance and letrozole . I’m so anxious and really hope there is no new lesions and everything is stable.

Yes, the nodules were in the lung. Your mother is on state-of-the-art therapy, and I hope her results are excellent!

Had the scan and mri yesterday morning,no news yet. I’m hoping for stable result. I assume they would call right away if there was some serious changes,especially for brain mri. It was her first brain mri. Did you use to cough and if yes do you remember for how long. My mom had morning coughs like 4 months ago and after treatment she got better,but it’s been 2 weeks now that she has dry coughs on and off. I hope it’s allergic…
