I was off Ibrance for 5 weeks while I had Covid and the cataract surgery. My back started hurting a lot. My pet scan showed larger and increased bone Mets. I think it was the Covid. Now I’m back on Ibrance for 6 weeks and pain is gone. I see my dr this week and he’ll probably change my meds but I think Covid increased my Mets. Has anyone had this experience or does anyone think I’m crazy

Mets and covid
Could it possibly be related to The Covid Vaccine? I wonder what your Oncologist will think?
I dot think he’ll believe me. I don’t think it causes Mets but wakes them up. I got terrible back ache after 2nd vaccine and found Mets in my bones
I don't know if it's crazy but I've had the same thought! My markers have risen steadily since Covid and vaccines - could be coincidence and I don't suppose we'll know any connection for years...
No I don't think you are crazy. I was taken off Ibrance just after I started it because of slight progression. I always felt we should have tried it one more time . I am in Ontario, Canada so it might be different here. I am now on Verzenio. (a sister drug to Ibrance.)
Cheers, June S.
Ladies, please reach out to the respective vaccine companies and report your observations. You can also report them directly to FDA. The contact info is easily found on the net. Your reports are very important in order to determine short and long-time side effects of the vaccines.
I don’t think you are crazy at all. I honestly believe I became metastatic after Covid. I did not have any harsh side effects but I did experience a very painful groin pain during Covid and then 15 days later, a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer when my cancer (2014) had been eradicated in 2015. Is there a connection? I’m not a scientist so I have no idea. However, I am personal friends with several survivors and of the 5, two of us became metastatic after Covid. I did not have harsh side effects while she did. Covid connection a coincidence? Maybe! Am I worried about my 3 other friends? Definitely!!! I told them to request a CEA tumor marker test on their next visit to oncology. It’s just a blood test so why not….I would love to hear other proven or even questionable stories of Covid and a metastatic diagnosis but also women who already had metastatic breast cancer and then their disease numbers got worse after having Covid. I wish more women would speak up. Covid and it’s symptoms or connections to disease should not be taboo. We are talking about life or death here so it’s pretty freakin scary!!!!
It may have progressed because you were off Ibrance for 5 weeks?
That’s exactly what my onc just said. I’m staying on Ibrance and fulvesant to see if they’re still working. I’m really happy about that.
A few months after getting vaccinated my metastasis became active again.
wow! yes, we have to explore EVERYTHING as it IS life or death for us and like they used to say, but I haven't heard it said in a long time, there ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS. My markers are in the 300's and I got the J&J Vaccine a year and a half ago, before that my ca27-29 was under 40. thank you so much, I never made the connection but those tests pick up on inflammation and all kinds of cellular changes, so maybe .... I have never in my life seen anything that exemplified the statement, "what don't kill us makes us stronger" as I have while dealing with this MBC! God bless you all and Jesus please heal us, amen! <3 PS I am on ibrance and letrozole. Just started back on it last month so I've only had one cycle but have been on the letrozole for years. I also take ginger, melatonin, and the name that can't be named (woof woof) and vitamin E, B-12, calcium and D3, aspirin, high blood pressure medicine and metformin. If anyone knows anything about the 5 day on 2 day off study for ibrance that finished 12/31/22, particulary the long-awaited results of said study, I would be most appreciative to hear about it. Thank you. <3
