My partner and I have just had COVID. Ithink we caught on our lovely trip to Paris. He got it first and felt lousy, high fevers and bad head and throat. He still has a cough.
I caught it from him, despite keeping apart. I felt worst the day before my positive test, dreadful fatigue. For acouple of days I had a cough, aching throat and sneezing but nothing serious. I tested positive for 11 days.
I have had five vaccines and despite my lowered immunity got away with it lightly. My partner has had three vaccines and has suffered much more, although negative after six days.
Just thought it might be interesting to anyone who hasn't had COVID and is worried.

Glad you came home without COVID. If I’m not mistaken, you’re in US. Can you share your experience in US and Paris airports re: COVID vaccination and tests. Thank you
I am in the US. I experienced no testing or vaccination requirements most of the trip. I brought our vaccine card but never needed it until the flight home. We flew Iberia and the airline required either proof of vaccination or negative test and was the only place I encountered that required masking.
Thank you for the quick response. We have 3 shots including 1 booster. Waiting for a more targeting booster to come in the fall. Our booster was done on Jan. 2022.
Thanks for sharing, Beryl. My husband and I are as well-vaccinated as possible (five shots), and haven't experienced Covid yet, but wonder whether catching it is inevitible these days with so many people going maskless. Good to know that neither one of us should be that worried. Regards,
Cindy
So sorry you caught Covid, but pleased you weren’t too ill with it.Hope you enjoyed Paris.
I am just back from Norway and fingers crossed no Covid yet.
So glad you’re able to travel though sorry you both had Covid. Thanks so much for posting so we know it’s possible to have it without being hospitalized and on a ventilator etc. Hope you have no long term side effects. 🙏🏻
In Scotland we have a system for the immuno-compromised whereby if you test positive for Covid you can quickly access the drugs needed that will seemingly stop Covid in its tracks. Thankfully I have not had to try out the system yet but another MBC-er I know has and it worked like a charm. Would have thought the same arrangement would apply in the rest of the UK.
I'm sorry you got both got Covid but glad you didn't get any sicker than you did! My husband and I both tested positive for Covid 5 days ago and when I called my onc, she said that unless we developed major symptoms, we didn't have to do anything. I had hoped she's tell us where to go to get meds for it. I had a mild sore throat when I woke up for about 3 or 4 days. Will tesst again either today or tomorrow. hubby tested positive again yesterday. He's felt worse than I have, very flu-like. We're staying home. Both have had 4 vaccinations. The only places I've gone since the pandemic started are medical places and the grocery store. Such a crazy way to live!
Glad you are both feeling better. I had Covid in March and felt a bit rough but nothing major. I don’t think any of us will totally avoid it, especially now, but I am relieved that I have had it now and hopefully that has given my antibodies another boost!
My husband and I had Covid 4 weeks ago. Both of us had horrible fatigue, no fever. I had a mild headache and scratchy throat. I have only had the first 2 vaccine doses ( refused the booster) and my husband is not vaccinated. We both had identical symptoms, mine were a little worse so my oncologist had me stop my Ibrance for 2 weeks and had me get the monocodial IV which really helped!
Hope you have now both fully recovered from Covid after your wonderful trip . My daughter tested positive for Covid too after her recent holiday in the Greek islands , but her symptoms were very mild and she is now clear . She has had three previous vaccines for her age group ( I have had 5 too due to being classed as ‘ immunocompromised, but fortunately I haven’t had covid to date ! ) .
From mid September , here in the U.K. you will be able to have the newly approved Moderna dual vaccine , that targets the two coronavirus variants ( this was just approved here in the U.K. a couple of weeks ago , following clinical trials by the Vaccine Institute at St George’s ) . Initially (from 5th September) , it will be offered to care homes, and then to health care staff and the immunocompromised, and then all over 50s will be offered this ‘Covid Bivalent Booster ‘ , along with the annual flu vaccine , in the autumn booster programme in the coming months .
Hope you had a wonderful time on your trip! Glad you and your partner are feeling better and that Covid was not too serious for you. I think the vaccines don't prevent us from getting Covid, but allow us to have milder symptoms. I had Covid in January and if Covid did not exist, I would have just thought I had a cold. Take care. Sending hugs.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid we will all get it matter of time. So far so good here. I have 2 teenagers and all unmaked 🤦♀️. My son's girlfriend just came down with it. So far my son tested negative and shows no sign.
I think I have the cleanest knobs, light switches, fridge and cupboard handles in the neighborhood!!
I am very glad you are feeling better now. Everybody seems to suffer through it differently.
We tested positive for Covid on March 2022. No symptoms except exhaustion on day 1. Found out I had metastatic breast cancer at end of April 2022. No vaccine for me. Hubs was vaccinated but also had no symptoms. I think Covid activated my prior breast cancer from 2014. Im waiting for medical community to find a connection but knowing how slow the medical community progresses, I doubt I will find out for sure in my lifetime if there is a connection. I’m not the only one who is asking questions about their once dormant breast cancer being expressed again after either being vaccinated or a Covid exposure without a vaccine. One woman went public after her first dose of a moderna vaccine and a subsequent metastatic breast cancer diagnosis. I hope I’m wrong but I fear the results.
I agree. I’m thinking there’s a connection with vaccine and my met bc. After 2nd vaccine I had terrible back pain and Mets were found in my bones. I just had Covid and suddenly Ibrance is no longer working.
In my area, I am friends with 4 other breast cancer survivors. Besides myself, one of the ladies were diagnosed with stage III after having Covid. She was not vaccinated. From the research I’ve been doing on medical sites, it looks like they have found a connection between Covid and a diagnosis of breast cancer but it looks like the connection is so far only after experiencing bad Covid symptoms. I didn’t experience any of the bad symptoms of Covid. Did you?
Mmm, sometimes it's easy to make connections looking back that may not be cause and effect. My understanding is that MBC doesn't suddenly come back but gradually reappears. I was told it would probyhave been lurking for years. I can now identify various things over the previous couple of years before my diagnosis that I can see were symptoms if that's what anyone had been alert for.If there's a connection with the vaccine then I would expect to see deterioration in MBC after each vaccination. I've had five as I'm now considered clinically extremely vulnerable. And I think this saved me being very poorly. If I'd contracted COVID after diagnosis and before vaccination I don't think I'd be here to tell the tale as my lungs were in a bad way then. X
A lady named Bonnie Eisenberg went public after a diagnosis of MBC. Her oncologist did tumor marker tests routinely, once a month, always in the normal range after breast cancer in 2014. Her tumor marker numbers kept climbing after each dose of Moderna and after her booster shot, her tumor markers were no longer in the normal range. She credits the vaccine as the reason why she was then metastatic.
As for me, I had back pain last year but the pain was managed with OTC meds. I fell in January so I went had tests done to see if I had broken or fractured a bone. Negative. I then had Covid in March and had no symptoms except exhaustion on the first day. I also had extreme groin pain which I attributed to the back pain but because it was so painful and I could hardly walk, I went in for more tests. That’s when they found metastatic breast cancer to bone. Notice I didn’t connect the groin pain to the Covid since I actually thought it was connected to my prior back pain. I still don’t know for sure but looking back on the schedule of how things progressed, I have my doubts. I remember when I got the very first MRI results back and it looked like cancer. Since I had just had Covid less than 15 days prior, I wasn’t worried because I thought for sure it was Covid related. They don’t know enough about Covid to negate that thought. It wasn’t until they did the bone biopsy and it came back positively connected to my prior breast cancer (2014) that I was worried. Covid and MTC, a strange coincidence or reality? I don’t know but I’ve talked to several women who say they had Covid or the vaccine and then were either diagnosed with breast cancer or MTC. I guess we will not know for sure until more women come forward and they investigate.
FYI: her tumor marker test was the CEA tumor marker test. I told my four breast cancer survivor friends to request the CEA tumor marker test on their next visit to make sure they don’t have a recurrence after Covid or after a vaccination for Covid. It’s just a blood test so what is the harm? I wish I would have known to request this test before my diagnosis of MBC. It’s too late for me but it may save another life.
