encouraging words from oncologist

hi everyone!

I think it would be a great time to share some encouraging words our oncologists have shared with us that maybe will help to inspire others. I think it can be very uplifting to read positives!

My parent (ironically my father- men do get breast cancer!) was diagnosed with de novo stage 4 breast cancer ER+ to bones only in May of 2022. He is currently on Ibrance, letrozole, Lupron, and xgeva. We are hoping this brings him success for years and years to come.

Mine talks about 10 year survival as a distinct possibility... And said that in his 30 year career, he has never seen new and effective drugs be developed so quickly, and is very bullish on the new science. He said it used to take decades for approvals, but now things are moving through in a few years.

I sometimes think he is too optimistic, but prefer that to doom and gloom!

I’m with you! My Onc always sees the glass half full and reassures me that I can have many years even with first line treatment. Of course I hope he is right. Having said that, getting to NED after 15 months and now 20 months in I feel Im well on my way!
