Good morning. I believe I posted that my first Taxol treatment caused a significant pain response. I delayed the second a week, and although the pain wasn't as bad, the after effects hit my legs. I'm now so weak, I can barely make a step. I've been in bed the entire week. My oncologist ordered scans yesterday to see what might be done.
Last night I was so terribly uncomfortable, full and short of breath. I kept having vivid dreams I was suffocating. A trip to the bathroom revealed bright orange urine and colorless stool. From what I read, this is poor liver function.
For those who have had ascites drained, did you experience the color change? How long did the draining give you relief? Did your liver function improve with draining? I really feel like this is the beginning of the end. No really effective drugs left, and I'm exhausted with being unable to do anything. Thank you for any help. Please forgive me if I don't respond. Andi

Hi Andi, I’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling like this. It sounds quite horrible and alarming. It’s also so unexpected to hear of you having these huge reactions to something you’ve had in the past. Although I did have a really bad experience myself years ago while on my chemo. My reaction needed up being from the neulasta I had to inject myself a couple of days after the chemo (to rebuild the white blood cell count). I’d had it before but this round was a larger dose. Whoa! I had so much pain in my pelvis I could barely move, and then it went to my skull. I was alone and almost nothing I could do for at least day. I was so scared.
But I looked at your old papers to catch up and I’m wondering did they never offer you Lynparza? It’s specifically for BRCA types and has worked really well for me since switching from iBrance and no symptoms. It did take a couple of weeks to get it approved and in my hands but I’m really hoping you can look into and get approved for that. It’s a pill like iBrance. The drug company also offers assistance if your insurance does not approve it. That assistance is organized via your oncologists office .
I hate to think of you being so uncomfortable and feeling as weak as this. See if you can pursue the Lynparza. I’ve got my healing vibes sending over to you!
As for PARP inhibitors like Lymparza, a new one was approved in Europe Talazoparib (talzenna). I think chances to avoid Iv chemo for longer periods of times are rising…🍀🍀🍀
I am so sorry you are going thru this draining (paracentesis) will bring some relief of symptoms. Ask your doc if a drain left in place that you can empty at h ome is an option. Ask for palliative care to help you get c omgortable. I am so sorry you are going thru this. Wishing you support, comfort, love and peace. ❤️
Andi my friend, I am so sorry you are going through this.We are all here for you and hoping things get easier.
Try and be as upright as you can in bed to help your lungs move.
I am sure you will be more comfortable once you have that fluid drained.
AndiSending hugs and love to you . So sorry things are awful right now, this horrible disease puts us through the wringer and tests us so much doesn’t it.
Once you get drained you will be so much more comfortable. I’ve just spent 6 weeks on sofa gasping for breath and honestly thought this is it many a night, dreading trying to sleep until I got this IPC in to drain at home.
You will have a more comfortable night soon, please know everyone is wishing you peace and a comfortable period at the moment , it will come.
Andi I’m so sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable and dealing with these issues. I hope things improve for you soon. Sending hugs and healing thoughts to you. 🌟
I cannot offer any advice Andi except to pray that you will find relief from your situation soon. It’s not the end but just finding the right medicine. My liver enzymes are high specially the bilirubin. I have a scan coming up and I’ll just have to wait and see what it shows. ❤️ and 🙏 Maria
So sorry to hear about your situation. My onc is suggesting taxol as one of three possible next lines, and it sounds so scary. Praying things turn around for you 🙏❤️🌷
I’m so sorry to hear how unwell you are feeling, I’ve not experienced these symptoms but I wanted to send you a virtual hug. I shall keep you in my prayers and hope that a solution is found very soon to lessen and relieve your discomfort Arisgram.N x
Hi Andi, I am so sorry for your symptoms. I am getting abraxane. I had the first treatment. I was told that it’s a “cousin “ of taxol that causes less or no side effects. Ask your doctor to switch you to this medication. I have 6 Mets in liver, and others. My doctor said that there are many other treatments as well. Do not get discouraged. Inhertu is a new one if you have her2 plus or her2 low. Hope you will feel better soon. Best,
Sister, and yesss Warrior I hope (pray) these symptoms will be gone ASAP. I pray for your to have comfort, and peace Sister/Warrior I pray you will stay strong . Amen 😇.
Andi - I'm sorry to hear you have experienced these reactions and I am hoping / praying your oncologist has a solution . Sending you healing energy and know we are here for you !
