We are some of the lucky ones , I am about the same amount of time since the beast ( cancer ) returned . It is not always easy but we carry on .

Well, a couple of different things. Liver pain can cause nerve pain over your level shooting up towards your shoulder and and over toward Spine. Yes it can quite intense but I find pain patches help as well homeopathic nerve pain pills. Now, as your cancer in liver begins to heal

, even just a little, pit does decrease and does go away. Some discomfort can sometimes be felt when laying on that right sideburns I don’t feel that any longer.

Of course you burp a lot, annoying as it is.

Let me know what symptoms you gavr

It is a burning pain that is usually on the right side of abdomen ( occasionally the left ) and the pain seems to move to the lower right abdomen near to where my appendix used to be. . The pain comes on about 11 am and stays until 3:30. -4 . I have no loss of appetite but feel fatigued during that time . But it doesn’t happen in the evening after I eat dinner - It may not even be the liver Mets , I have never asked drs what or if liver Mets cause pain . Mine were found on a routine CT scan .

I have an appointment for a CT scan in May so I will find out more after that and ask more questions. I think 🤔 it might be more digestive ??? But no sense to me that it doesn’t happen in the evenings .

I have liver Mets but I’ve never felt any pain. Prior to diagnosis, nor since then.

There were a couple of times a few months back when I felt a fluttering or butterfly feeling and wondered if it was my liver, but it was lower and more centred. I kept track of it for a while - even marked the location with a pen to see if it was moving around - and then after a few weeks, it stopped doing it. And then my next scan showed shrinking in the tumours so I figured it must have been gastro. 🤷‍♀️

I’m glad you asked the question as I’m interested in seeing the responses from others.

Hey Luann, I have 2 mets just over a centimeter and 4 or 5 subcentimeter ones. I'm told I should feel nothing. However, I feel a near constant tightness in my upper right back that can radiate up toward my shoulder blade. The discomfort began as an ache or pain under the right ribcage area of my abdomen. It seems it worsens when I've eaten a good bit or exert myself.

I am taking 100 mg Ibrance and fulvestrant. This is my 5th line of treatment. I've pushed off chemo in hopes the fulvestrant will "kick in".

I hope this helps, and you are having a wonderful Spring. ❤️ Andi

Hi Andi I had a tightness burning knot in my right shoulder for some time before IV treatment began . Massage therapist would work on trying to release it . I was never sure if it was cancer related or not but it always felt a bit better a day or two after the message . It wasn’t until reading on here about liver being connected to shoulder blade pain that I had connected the two .

This burning discomfort I have moves around but has its favourite spots to sit for a bit before moving on . It has me feeling pretty yucky from about 11:30 - 3:30 each day and then I am fine again ?????

I think I need some better communication with my health team . But always feel like I am being a pain .

Fingers crossed that the fulvestrant kicks in for you !

Don't feel you are being a pain! It is your body, your life, and you need to know as much as possible what is going on. I had to train my oncologist to tolerate my questions and not brush me off. She now knows to expect them.

Just knowing what something is can make it less disturbing. Unfortunately, they often don't have an answer. "Don't know" is common. But maybe they will know or at least give you something for the 4 hours of discomfort.

Hello, I have liver mets 2 around 2cm and some smaller dots. I am told there are no nerve endings in the liver, but you might feel capsule pain. Swelling in the liver which stretches the liver capsule.. it cannot extend, so feels full. How that pain is identified seems to be complicated if taking oral meds by stomach/duodenal pain/acid, possible gallstones (sharp pain - your CT will show if you have stones, but not sludge/crystals which are also painful). Liver pain does seem to be more identified with pain at the back and up the shoulder.. I am with you, it would be nice to hear from/see a gastric specialist. My main pain around this is that the oncologists don't seem to think these pains are worthy of much attention.. as not life threatening!

I haven’t actually seen my oncologist in a 1.5 years . When she told me there had been a spread to the liver and recommended IV chemo . Since I have had a few phone appointments with her that are quick . I had 1 in person appointment when I was finished Paclitaxel with one of my oncologist dr to prescribe hormone medication . They must not be concerned with the scan results in Feb/22 as they moved the next one to Sept ./22

I have wondered if the burning pain I am experiencing is gastrointestinal as it seems to move and comes and goes . But I wasn’t sure what the difference would be from liver pain ?

I always struggle with which dr to talk to about what . I guess I will ask medical dr when I go for treatment in a couple weeks .

Thank you for your reply

I am not expert except in what has worked for me. My General Practitioner is more useful in this area. I get burning pain occasionally, I am told it is stomach acidity. I take a tsp of Peptac (mint) before bed and that usually clears a light pain. You can get pills for stomach acid, but I avoid those if poss. You want to treat it if you can, to avoid it developing into a stomach ulcer.. I think my gallbladder gets inflammation too occasionally .. but it is a bit mysterious and sometimes I just have to lie down with a hotwater bottle on it.

Hi I have liver mets. thankfully I don't get any pain and they have shrank a bit since starting treatment. Just before I was diagnosed I suffered from nausea and was losing weight .I think that might have been caused by my liver mets. However this resolved afterstarting my treatments🥰 x

My appetite is good , too good . But I find I can only eat smaller amounts but I want to eat more frequently. Out of the blue during the day I will feel nauseous for a bit and then it goes away ? Thank you for sharing .Luann

HiI have liver mets, I just started 2nd line fulvestrant, Ibrance stopped working. I brance stopped the bone but not liver. CT scan next and hopefully I will see stable and shrinkage.

As for pain, I thought I was feeling some sort of tingling liver side, but I don't feel anything now. I don't believe you feel the liver. I believe it comes in other ways, stool, skin colour etc.

We can all flinch at any pain/weird feeling at this stage as we are all stage 4. Just pray the meds do their jobs at stabilizing so we can create some sort of normal.

Keep positive vibes

Deb 🙏❤

I have liver Mets in fact that was the only place it was…. In fact it was pretty bad (better now) but I really had no real symptoms other then filling “full” when I ate. Liver was pretty swoll up with cancer so my abdomen always had that full feeling but honestly no pain. And my pee was kind of a dark color so I thought I had a bladder infection maybe it was kind of that very dark yellow that made me think there was blood in there….if it had only been that simple…. But with my Ibrance my tumors have all shrunk in my liver some not even measurable anymore and the two bigger ones have shrunk significantly so good news. What is it that you’re feeling?

Thank you Gibby21 it has has been a burning pain starts in my upper right had side of my stomach but occasionally in the left but never at the same time ( thankfully ) it then seems to move to my lower stomach on the right and then in the appendix area ( which was removed years ago) . It comes and goes from approx 11 am -4pm , I also feel very fatigued during that time . And all of a sudden I will feel fine again . Even after eating dinner in evening I am fine . I also seem to require more pain medication during the afternoon hours for hip / lower back pain . I am so happy to hear Ibrance is working for you .I am wishing for a long run on it for you .

Luann

Hi LuannSometimes I have a bloated tummy underneath my chest and sometimes I have a spasm/muscle pain. It soon passes. It does happen every day since the increase in size of my liver mets. Drink plenty of water.

Best wishes

I need to start drinking more water again , after being on Ibrance for the 2 years and having to drink so much water I have slacked off in the past year . Oh how I hate those muscle spasms I have resorted to muscle relaxers occasionally and topical muscle creams . I have never really got a explanation of what causes them . My blood work doesn’t show any reason . Another mystery on the MBC journey .

What treatment are you currently on ?
