Covid and Ibrance

I tested positive for Covid on Wednesday and my Oncology Team have asked me to stop Ibrance for a week in order to build up my neutrophils and then have bloods done on Friday - at that point I will be told what to do next. Anyone else experienced the same?

Thanks

Hi

I had Covid about a month and a half ago, I’m also taking Ibrance. I was given the same advise.

I caught it at the end of the course (when WBC is lowest) and tested positive during my week off a few days later. Being in quarantine for 10 days I was not able to go to the oncology centre to get the blood tests that I get every month before the next course is prescribed.

Once my Quarantine time ended, and I also tested negative, I proceeded as normal.

Surprisingly my WBC test came back really good that month…a little higher than normal as I suppose it rose to fight the virus.

I probably missed about a week of treatment time but it didn’t have any negative effect as I had my first 6 month scan around then too…and the results were good, showing a reduction in the primary tumour.

I hope you have very mild symptoms, and I wish you a speedy recovery. Keep hydrated and get a good amount of rest/sleep.

Take care, best wishes

Zoe

Glad you have recovered and scan was good. I always worry when I have to delay Ibrance.

Hi,I had Covid about a month ago. I had to stop my Ibrance for 5 days and was also prescribed the antiviral Paxlovid by my Oncologist. After the 5 days finished my cycle of Ibrance. Had my usual labs on my week off and they were within the limits to begin my next cycle. The Paxlovid really helped. Symptoms completely gone in 36 hours.

Hi, yes. I had Covid in December over the holidays and was told to stop taking the ibrance until I was better. The break actually did me well. My counts were able to build back up. I hope you feel better soon.

Trusting God. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

I love that bible verse! Before my last scan I was very nervous about what the results would be and was trying to think of that verse to calm me. Lo and behold, I received an email from a couple from Natural Family Living who promote the use of essential oils and are very Christian and that verse was in their email that day. I knew it was a sign from God that I should not worry about the scan, and I did get good results.

I had it back in December 2020, a month or after lung surgery to remove lesions and not so long after I started treatment in October 2020! I had no symptoms other than losing sense of taste and smell but I kept on testing positive until Jan so they stopped me taking palbo. I’m currently NEAD so I don’t think this impacted at all. I have also stopped taking palbo when I had my ovaries removed and when I had non cancer related eye surgery this year. I really hope you will be fine x

I had Covid in early January and was also advised by my oncologist to stop the Ibrance for a week. Luckily for me that week followed my regular week off. When I went for my next bloodwork later that month when I was back on Ibrance, my tumor marker was the lowest it had been since before my MBC diagnosis and my WBC was in the normal range. My most recent scan was good too. So, I did not feel this extra week off hurt me. I did not have bad symptoms from Covid as I had both vaccines plus the booster. It was mostly upper respiratory. I ran a fever for a day and a half and had some body aches, a cough and a stuffy nose, but never had the fatigue or any other symptoms. It has taken awhile for the cough to disappear but I don't think that is unusual. I was very careful to stay away or mask up around my husband for about 10 days and he never caught it. Hope you will not have too many issues with Covid and will be back on your feet soon. I made sure to stay hydrated and got some mild exercise everyday to keep my lungs strong. Those two things really helped. Sending hugs.

I had Covid in March 2020...yep right after it was found to be "a thing." Could not get tested as there were not enough tests, but in May 2020 had antibodies, which proved I had IT.

Went off Ibrance for a week. Also went off it for thyroid surgery. No issues!

BTW when we ordered and received 4 free Covid test kits at our house in Feb 2022 we laughed. Two years too late for us.

BTW I had two rounds of Moderna in April and May 2021 sick both times. When I was sched for a booster it was also close to time of PET. In Jan my internist ran bloodwork. I had so many antibodies he told me to skip booster and he will retest my blood at another point. Need to sched another antibodies test.
