I am 2 years into Stage IV MBC treatment with Ibrance & Letrozole. I’m doing well and getting my COVID-19 vaccination next week at the end of my “off week”. My oncologist advised me to hold the Ibrance for an additional 2 weeks after the vaccination. That would mean 3 weeks off. He has concern about interrupting Ibrance any more than that & is unclear on how we’ll handle the second dose. What are other Ibrance patients being advised on receiving the vaccine?

I’m also two years on Ibrance and all working well.At the start of lockdown in March I was advised to come off Ibrance altogether. I was off about 8 weeks in total.
I’ve had two stable scans since.
I think on the bigger picture a few weeks seems okay ...
Just had a virtual appointment with my onc today and she said just to get the Covid vaccine at the end of my week off Ibrance ( like I have done previously for my previous flu vaccines )but not been advised to take any time off after . x
Good question. I am almost four years into my MBC diagnosis and taking Ibrance, Letrozole and monthly Xgeva injections. Last fall I got my flu shot when I went for injection and did fine. I’m thinking I might be given Covid vaccine at that time as well which is at the end of the week off. Please keep us posted on how you do. I will be asking my oncologist about this.
Thanks to you all for sharing. I'm an old RN and probably spend too much effort trying to research & over-manage. Sounds like most Onc's advise receiving the vaccine at end of the off week. That is my plan as well. Only when I asked about muted vaccine response due to a low ANC did he advise the additional 2 week Ibrance break. That should allow a chance to make a few Covid-19 antibodies before Ibrance knocks the neutrophils back down. Any immunity is a good thing. I'll take my chances & delay the 2nd dose to 6 weeks after the first (rather than the recommended 3 weeks). 🤞 Thanks again for sharing your experiences. Stay well!
I'm on the same treatment and wasn't given any special instructions for getting the vaccine. I got my first dose of the pfizer vax almost 3 weeks ago and I'm getting my second dose on Monday. I had zero side effects from the first.
